I've become a lib-balm addict since braces. From Walgreens generic, to Burts Bees, to SoftLips, Lip Smackers, Vaseline, even A&D ointment for those horrid cracks from dry lips from being sick. Lets not forget Aquaphor, ChapStick, Carmex and MedEx. My favorite keeps changing. My newest addiction ...

Loving my comfort cover! Update after orchestra concert

I ordered a comfort cover from Dentakit and it came in today. I immediately grabbed my clarinet and tenor sax, and could play immediately. No rubbing, no wax, and completely comfortable. My husband says they're a bit noticeable, but they're mostly clear so it's not a big deal. I couldn't care if the...

Well, as for the orthognathic consult, it may not require surgery after all. He said things are moving better than expected. Good news on that front. However, I have thrush. Very painful, very awful thrush. Living on gatorate through a straw and Nystatin right now. I MISS MY MORNING COFFEE! Too bad ...

I'm not one to medicate my child unless absolutely necessary. But my ortho suggested a dose of Benadryl before the appointment to calm her down. It made her just calm enough to let them do the molds, and I am hoping it works when it comes time for the braces. However................before this happe...

Question about the salt in salt water rinses

Okay, so I've been doing salt water rinses since b-day. Now I'm wondering. (Avoiding the salt now since the thrush diagnosis.)

Is it the iodine in the salt that is necessary for healing of sores? Or salt in general? If you think about it...who wants to pour salt in an open wound?

Just wondering

Thrush! Help, I'm crying from pain

Yesterday I had what I thought was an allergic reaction to my latex rubber bands. My ortho thought it warranted a trip to ER. Turns out I have thrush. Like babies get! It's very painful, my lips and tongue are grotesquely swollen, and I can't eat anything solid. The inside of my cheeks are covered i...

Oral Surgery consult tomorrow

Tomorrow at 9 am I meet with my ortho to discuss surgery options. I am nervous, but excited at the same time.

I just wish it didn't require surgery to repair this darn overjet.
