Every dental professional I have ever seen has bugged me about my wonky bite. A dentist pulled my top two pre-molars when I was a child to make room for my teeth as my mouth was not big enough. I am being told now that this is what has caused my weird bite. Personally, I always thought my teeth look...

And it's totally appreciated :) I finally succeeded with the impressions yesterday. This ortho sends them off for indirect bonding trays to be made (They are damon braces so they use Insignia software apparently). The bottom mold didn't work well (wouldn't set) so had to be re-done (most of it was l...

No experience with this surgery yet - I won't be having mine until sometime next year. BUT, I have had several major surgeries (colonoscopy to treat ulcerative colitis, and ACL reconstruction on my left knee). So, I do know about the anxiety before surgery day. My colon surgery was 12 years ago and ...

Catfish - yes, that sounds a lot like my experience. I also hate when I'm told "you shouldn't feel anything", but I definitely know that I do. I mean really, how can you not know when a tooth hurts to chew on. Come on! Anyway, I'm glad to have it gone. And whether it psychosomatic or not, ...

I don't mind the question about the root canal. I think basically a root canal is done to save a tooth, that would otherwise be extracted. A failed root canal is a tooth that has had a root canal - but eventually has to be extracted due to complications. For me, the tooth never felt right after the ...

Hey everyone. Thanks for all your kind words. I'm actually not sorry about the failed root canal. Years ago (after I had it done) a naturopath informed me that root canals are not good for your health, and I've had trouble with that tooth this entire time. At the periodontist, he (as have every dent...

Oh no. I don't have my braces yet.

But I never thought about the caesar salad thing. Wow, I am SO glad I found this board.

Thanks for the replies! I am really thinking about doing a blog/braces story with pictures. I've never done anything like that before, but I think this might be a journey worth documenting. I didn't end up getting the impressions today. I had a pre-molar extracted Monday (failed root canal) and so t...

Hi there. Glad to hear you are home. Hope you are doing OK.

I'm just beginning my journey. Will be having surgery next year some time to fix my underbite.

I'm so glad to have a forum like this where people like me can share their experiences.

Impressions today

My appointment for impressions (and sorting out financing) has moved up from June 13 to this afternoon. This means I may be able to get my braces placed before July 7 now!

I know it's weird to be excited, but I have been wanting to do this for 10 years.

I live in Calgary (Canada). I just had a consultation a couple weeks ago with an orthodontist. I have an underbite and will require surgery as well. He quoted me $10,100 which includes $1950 for TMJ diagnostics and stabilization. I will also require surgery at around the 10-16 month mark. I was told...

41 and just getting started

Hi everyone. My name is Audra. I am 41 and am just starting my journey with braces and jaw surgery. I have an underbite that needs to be corrected and am finally at a point where I can afford to do it. I have had my initial ortho appointment and am having impressions done on the 13th of June and bra...
