Re: Is this normal or have I really screwed up my face?
Thankyou everyone! I appreciate the support yall are offering. I guess I was having a bad day. I'm soooo ready for the swelling to go down. I'm already going on 2+ mile walks and I'm hoping like crazy my surgeon will let start doing the eliptical next week. So needless to say I'm feeling great! Ther...

Is this normal or have I really screwed up my face?
I had my surgery 1 week ago today, and I understand that there's lots of swelling. But a large portion of my swelling has gone down. (my face was as at one time 2x this size) The thing is while the swelling has gone down my "new" features are staying the same. I have looked at blogs and ha...

Post Surgery nasal congestion
My nose is horribly congested. I can't breathe out of it. AT ALL.
I think it might be blood but I'm not sure. Has anyone had this probem?
What did you do so you could breathe through your nose?

How to make a make shift "Jaw Bra"
My OS said I didn't NEED a jaw Bra. So I was at the grocery store and bought a pair of extra long tube socks meant for diabetics. Safety pinned the toes together. I will take zip lock bags (snack size) and fill them with crushed ice. Slip them down the socks. in to the feet portion. Tie the two ends...

Nightmares and trouble sleeping before surgery
I am having my surgery in 4 days. I've been having the worst trouble sleeping lately. I've been obsessing constantly consuming all of the info that I can before surgery. Clearly this surgery is stressing me out but I should be excited to get it. I've been waiting 23 years (found out I would need it ...

Re: Last meal before surgery! (Anyone else a foodie?!)
My doc said not to eat any heavy meals the day before (apparently a lot of us want to do this :) ) He said If I wanted to pig out do it the weekend before or a couple of days before so that I could be um "cleared out" He suggested the day before keep it pretty light and low on grease and c...

Re: having surgery again in april
who gives a Flying fart how your surgeon might react. It is your every right and your responsibility to your health to get 2nd and 3rd opinons. If you have to have a 2nd surgery, get it with someone who knows what the heck they are doing. People care about your posts but this board doesn't move that...

how much weight did you lose with your surgery?
1st let me say I'm excited about my surgery. I'm excited that I'll finally be able to bite into burgers and sandwiches and other food and not have it spill down my face and clothes! I'm looking forward to the day I can smile and not be embarassed by my smile. And oh the day I can smile in a picture....

Re: why do i still feel ugly
I suggest picking up the book "Minding the Body" It's a collection of essays written by women regarding the mental connection between their mind and their body. More specifically their vanity. There is one essay that I remember discussed a young woman that had gone through life with a defo...

Broken Jaw v. 2pc Lefort 1 surgery
So naturally the surgery is consuming my life right now. I try to talk about it with my younger sister (she's 24) and she basically acts like It's no big deal. Today she said "[her friend] Broke his jaw and was wired shut for 5 weeks. You'll be fine you'll find stuff to eat" after asking h...

Re: PRE & POST-OP SUPPLY LIST---add your list or ideas
I found 2 products. Plat y pus soft water bottle & babyfood by Ella's kitchen & Peter rabbit's organics. This is not spam I lurk here. I've also considered posting my HEALTHY food options. Finally I went to chowhound dot com and they have some really good suggestions regarding jaw surgery an...
