Oh the pain - rectangle wires, elastics, and bite build ups.
I had my second adjustment yesterday. I think I am in more pain now than I have ever been. The adjustment was pretty comfortable, but a lot was done. I was changed to rectangle wires. This is my third wire on top and my second on the bottom, so my bottom teeth are in so much pain. My top ones feel o...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old
Second adjustment! :jump: I'm just over 5 months in and I went for my second adjustment today. This one was much better than the first. The steel ties of my first adjustment were really painful when they were put on. I didn't need those again, so I found this one a lot better and way less painful. M...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old
It's been a while since I posted. I had my teeth cleaned today which I was super excited about. I had staining between my teeth. No matter how well I brush it seems to still happen, so I was really looking forward to having everything cleaned! They said my teeth look great, no concerns or anything. ...

Re: How’s everyone braces life going ?
Things are going ok for me! It's been about 4 months. It seems a little slow going. My teeth are straightening up well (I think lol), but since my last adjustment in June my bite has been so awkward. I was hoping it would change or something over the last few weeks as teeth move, but it hasn't. I am...

Re: What to expect at a first visit
Hi! Before getting my braces on I went for 2 consultations. For the first, the ortho's assistant took pictures and talked me through the process. Then, the ortho came in and had a look. He made his recommendations. He either said Invisalign or metal braces with 4 extractions. The assistant came back...

Re: How are teeth retracted/pulled back?
Oh I had no idea that would be considered normal. Good to know. I'm pretty sure that a 3 mm overjet is within normal range, so why bother? The overjet developed once my teeth started shifting. I haven't always had it, so I assume my ortho is dealing with it to perfect everything. I'm ok with that!

Re: How are teeth retracted/pulled back?
I am also correcting an overjet (3mm - I have no idea how severe that is or isn’t in the realm of overjets). My ortho’s plans so far are to use elastics to correct it. I’m not at that point yet. Also, I didn’t have any extractions.

Re: What’s The Right Order??
Mine is quite different. Waterpik (ortho tip first on low to clear food, then higher with normal tip to floss) Brush (interdental then electric) Floss Mouthwash Interested to hear other people’s routines. Even my routine prior to braces ran a similar order. I also only do that much in the morning an...

Re: How do you keep your teeth looking white?
Yes, I do too. And it's been worse with braces. I get it on the back of my top teeth and with braces, on the front and between my bottom teeth. I also drink coffee (just 1.5 cups in the morning and also rinse & brush afterwards). Like you, my front top "social six" teeth don't seem to...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old
Hi!
Thank you. Yes, my bite is the main issue. My molars need a lot of movement and my bite needs a lot of correction. I hope I don't have them the full 2 years lol. My adjustments are 10-12 weeks apart right now to give the molars a lot of time to move, so that drags things out!

Hi! I like visuals to see how things are going, so I thought I would post some photos of my journey! Photo 1: Before. http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p381/Cassie_Van_Dorp/IMG_1189_zpskseh2dfx.jpg Photo 2: Day 1. (I had bite builds up put on shortly after this photo. I am biting a bracket, so I ca...

Re: How do you keep your teeth looking white?
Does anyone else get some staining in between their teeth that they can't get rid of? I have always been seriously anal about keeping my teeth clean. No matter how well I brush, I can't seem to get rid of the staining. My front 6 teeth don't have any thank goodness, so it isn't visible to others, bu...

Re: What's up with no ibuprofen????
My opinion is that there is a large difference between occasional use and continued use. This NSAID, like all COX inhibitors, will have anti-inflammatory properties, but to have such an effect one likely needs several doses at specific (and close) intervals to reach a steady spam spam level that wi...

Re: Can I ignore this when having braces? PLEASE HELP!!
My teeth hitting brackets? Currently no. It was just the 1 back molar that was an issue for me (which didn't have the wire through it anyway), so since there isn't a bracket on it right now, nothing is hitting. Hopefully you can get in to see your orthodontist and have it resolved.
