Re: Got my braces last week.... hating the composite 'bumper

My upper canines hit the brackets on my lower ones. It's annoying but I was told until my teeth moved I'd just have to put up with it. Yay. Because my teeth don't close properly I end up biting my lower lip while I'm sleeping as well so it's not just annoying but painful as well. No tips here either...

Re: Introduction & first adjustment

Hello! I believe at my orthodontist the assistants do all of the repairs and wire trims and the orthodonist does all of the adjustments. At least that is my understanding of it. I have only had my braces for a little over a week so no adjustments yet. I'm going in on Friday to have one of the wires ...

Re: those small gaps that keep appearing!

Ouch. *hugs* Hope those pesky gaps get healed soon. :-)

I've only had my braces for a week so not much movement yet. A couple of teeth have moved even closer together than they were before already. I found this out when I was flossing and the floss got stuck between the teeth. It hurt. A lot. :-(

Re: New, tired, and cranky

I only got my braces last Tuesday and am finding my gums have already started to heal and toughen up. I rinse my mouth out with warm salty water (one tsp salt in a glass of lukewarm water) about four times a day and only use the wax at night. Thus far that is working well for me. My orthodontist has...

Re: How many times a day should someone floss?

I don't know if it would damage your teeth but I do wonder if you could irritate your gums. Guess that would depend on how gentle you are.

I floss once a day, at night. I use a small interdental brush for inbetween teeth after other meals.

Re: "Well, you did it to yourself..."

It always amuses me when men say stuff like that. They're usually the biggest complainers when they're sick or in pain. At least the men in my family are. I'm single so I don't have to worry about that. The thing is you may have done this to yourself but it's not like you did it on a whim or for fun...

Re: Teeth Feel Loose

I'm glad I saw this. My braces go on in a week and if I hadn't known it was normal I would have panicked bigtime. I have a recurring nightmare about losing my teeth so I am not looking forward to loose teeth.

Re: Moving Back Molars

It's 6mm either side. I assumed power chains would be used but now I am wondering if TADS may be. I hope not... they might be painless but just the thgouht of them creeps me out. I've been reading about other people having their back molars pulled forward and it seems to me like 3mm shouldn't affect...

Re: anyone concerned about how your othro is not responsible

I haven't had to sign anything so far, though I may have to on the day the braces go on. However in my information folder I did get detailed descriptions (and in some cases diagrams) of everything that could go wrong including the things you have detailed here. It bothers me that those things can ha...
