Re: invisalign disaster!

I suggest finding out what experience the Dental Surgeon has with Invisalign. There are dentists who have more experience with Invisalign than some Orthodontists. Perhaps the biggest problems I see are that you didn't have a clear understanding of the treatment plan, and you are having difficulty co...

Re: Stubborn Teeth and Long Term Concerns

Dr. Tam, Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I presently have partial retainers that cover all but my molars and second pre-molar. These create a gap where my rear teeth don't touch (after Invisalign, there was a gap of about 2 mm between my rear teeth). It appears the rear teeth are growing i...

Stubborn Teeth and Long Term Concerns

I've been at this over 2 1/2 years now - first with 30+ trays of Invisalign, then followed with partial retainers while trying to get my rear teeth to grow out to correct a deep bite. One molar has been especially difficult since it was growing at an angle. We tried interarch elastics without having...

Re: fixed braces instead of refinement??

I would think this is going to depend on your doc and his/her willingness to change treatments - I would think that they would want to do the most expedient and effective method. Also any conditions that you have that may favor one treatment type over another. My dental hygenist goes to the same ort...

Re: Is the expensive cleaning system worth it?

I've been using a SonicBrite system which is considerably cheaper than Invisaligns and does a really good job, expecially when used with a soft child's toothbrush. The system breaks up deposits and converts them into a residue that is easily brushed off with a soft toothbrush. Regular toothpaste and...

Re: invisalign nighmare

Your experience is very similar to mine. I was told initially I had a difficult case that could be difficult to correct and even more difficult to maintain. I had a severe deep bite where my lower front teeth hit my upper gums behind my front teeth. I had a resorbed tooth root from a previous ortho ...

Re: essix retainer cracked after 5 mths?

I have temporary Essix retainers to replace my last Invisalign trays. Like other posting here, mine are developing a number of cracks after a few months. I may be clenching some at night. Also, these cover only my 8 front teeth as there are elastics on my rear teeth trying to get my uppers and lower...

Re: Going from invisalign to ceramic braces

I think getting it over with is a great idea if another treatment will work better. I had regular braces before and they were really easier to deal with than Invisalign - particularly for an extended treatment. With regular braces, I could eat when I wanted to and there weren't that many restriction...

Re: Can invisalign correct overbites?

It's good to keep an open mind about treatment options. In my case I thought I was signing up for regular braces and my doc wanted to use Invisalign due to pre-existing conditions. The more options you have open, the better. Also, an orthodontist may use more than one technique for treatment. In my ...

Re: Cutting off the back of the aligner on last tooth?

It will probably depend on how the aligner is cut - whether over part of the tooth or the entire tooth. I've had partial aligners and now partial retainers that are to allow my rear teeth to grow out. They are cut so that no tooth is partially covered. I don't feel any discomfort from this at all. T...

Re: Can invisalign correct overbites?

A lot depends on any pre-existing conditions to determine what treatment is needed. Invisalign was never mentioned to me until after my orthodontist found a resorbed tooth root from a previous treatment (braces twice before). When I went in for my records review, I thought I would be signing up for ...

Re: Can invisalign correct overbites?

I have a severe deep bite where my lower teeth contacted the gums behind my uppers. Like you were describing, I had a lot of pain from gum damage and also had ear aches and problems clearing my ears when flying. My orthodontist went with Invisalign and some follow up techniques to correct the proble...

Re: Been waiting 6 weeks and counting for my refinements

I'm in the US. My first aligners took almost 8 weeks around this time of the year (November - early December). The slow delivery was due to the US holidays - Thanksgiving in late November and the number of items being shipped before Christmas. I started contacting the orthodontist office, who in tur...

Re: New invisalign patient on day 4 with concerns

I did think of a couple of questions you may want to ask - 1) Will elastics be used with Invisalign trays or some other appliance (mine are not with Invisalign trays) 2) How long will treatment continue after you finish your last trays? (I finished my last trays last April but have other appliances ...

Re: New invisalign patient on day 4 with concerns

Your treatment sounds something like mine where I had Invisalign for the first phase and a different treatment later. I started out with 31 trays of aligners, then started the second phase where I had partial trays that covered only my front 8 upper and lower teeth. My rear teeth were supposed to gr...
