Re: Can't get Floss Between Teeth!!!
Hey There- I concur with the water pik and the oral b flossers. It's got this stiff plastic end that allows you to easily thread through the teeth and then you pivot the tip up with your tongue to grab ahold of. I was totally a bad girl with not flossing and only water piking. Thought I was golden u...

Re: Treatment and resultant lisp?
I don't know Andy, are you sure the lisp is not from a mouth full of braces?? I lisped quite a bit when I had a mouth full of metal; constantly having to repeat myself. I think too it's a learning process for where your tongue should be. Perhaps retraining your tongue to rest at the roof of your mou...

Re: What happens when ortho becomes out-of-network while treatment is in progress?
Hey There- I've not had any experience having to fight it out with dental; it's usually medical side that I've had to jump through the hoops. Depending on how much is the remaining balance; you might want to consider a formal appeal. Your dental insurance should have a guide which tells you all of t...

Re: Dr. Posnick or Dr. Obeid?
Hey There- I looked for reviews on Dr. Obeid and found some on Medstar health( https://www.medstarhealth.org/doctor/dr-george-obeid-dds/). Nothing really mentioning MMA reviews though. Dr. Posnik has a bad one on this site https://www.vitals.com/doctors/Dr_Jeffrey_Posnick/reviews). Consumer Checkboo...

Re: a month off of braces and my ortho told me to wear them at night?
I got my braces off last week (3/11) and was told 24/7; next check-up is 8 weeks. I have the Essex upper retainer and permanent for the bottom. I've been pretty good about wearing the removable one. My issue is that sometimes I forget that it is in (drank coffee with it) or I forgot that it was not ...

Re: Recommendations?
Hello, The big names that are always posted and appear to be the most recommended are Gunson and Arnett. They are located in Ca and they do not take insurance. They seem to do quite a lot of reconstruction too after someone has botched up a surgery. I totally agree that's it challenging to find name...

Three Years Later and They're Off!!
So the big day finally arrived and I had my braces removed. It was a relatively quick process and not that uncomfortable. I went that afternoon to my dentist and had my teeth cleaned for the first time in a really long time; 3 1/2 years. The first year rationale was because my braces were applied an...

Re: Help dealing with being wired shut
Hey There- personally I hated the syringes. I had read someones blog and gotten the suggestion to get plastic ketchup bottles. I bought like 8 on Amazon so you don't have to keep reloading a syringe. You can purchase them too through the dollar store and I would get more than one because usually one...

Hi There,
In my particular case I was banded shut for only one week. It still took me a year to get to the final goal of 24 sticks.

Re: How do I know if my potential orthodontist is good / bad?
Hey Ruby77, it never hurts to get more than one opinion. Depending on where you live, you might be able to get a good recommendation on this message board. Other sources are Consumer Checkbook, Top Ortho's /dentist in popular local magazines (in my area Washingtonian and Baltimore magazine list annu...

Re: Is this normal?
Hi There- your teeth shift a lot during treatment but sometimes when things "zig" they also "zag". I had a problem where my (right upper cuspid I think) tooth was suddenly catching when I would chew during one of my elastic config phases (I believe the box). I voiced my concerns ...

Re: Functionally good but aesthetically bad?
Hi There Sparklecat, So every time you go under the knife, you will develop scar tissue. This makes it challenging for any sort of corrective surgery. Now with hindsight, I would only consider a revision surgery by someone who is a skilled provider and has done many cases of revisions. So that means...

Re: ...And they're off!
So you have a permanent upper and lower and then they gave you a removable one too?? That's actually pretty cool. I think I"m only getting permanent lower and removable upper. At least that is what I remember him saying 3 years ago.
