I had three wisdom's out recently, so I can feel your pain. Think the bleeding was the most upsetting part. Had to keep reminding myself, it's okay, it's okay, as long as it stops within 24 hours it's okay. . . But thank goodness it's over and now they're healing! My braces were already on before th...

Oh, rats. I've got pics to share, but I have clear brackets in the front. For what it's worth, you can see them on the metal brackets that I have in the back: Silver looks nice with the metal, and doesn't seem to stain. Here are Silver in the back: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/NakedSpace/L...

I'm with Meryaten, here. Honestly, people don't notice your braces. Have you ever checked out the lig colors thread on this forum? There are those among us who have changed the colors on their braces to something WILD, and been disappointed because nobody noticed. TumbleDry has a good point, too - I...

In the area I live in, its common to pay nothing for a pre-braces consultation. However, that's not really the situation you're in right now. Given that the percentage of 2nd opinion seekers that convert to patients is probably significantly lower than those seeking an initial consultation, any ort...

Hmmm. That is a sticky wicket, indeed. All four of my consultations were free, and two of those involved taking panoramic X-rays. Of course, I didn't have the braces on yet, so it was a different situation than yours. Faced with the same predicament, I would probably go for whatever free consultatio...

Re: ear clogged

My molars dont touch either. Is it normal for this to cause some tension in the jaw or for the ears to feel clogged up? I am having these symptoms now and I am wondering if there is a connection. I would mention this at your next appointment. Although I have heard that a few jaw joint symptoms are ...

Welcome! I believe the slight wobbliness of our teeth comes and goes throughout treatment. After all, they are on the move, which means they can't stay tightly in their original places, right? Or else we'd all ask for our money back! My braces have been on for a month, and I find that I can actually...

This is just my personal opinion, but I'd prefer an ortho to just say "we're going to have to reposition this bracket, it could be doing a better job in there" than try to pass it off as a defective bracket.
Not that it's that big a deal I guess.

Goodness, 9 at one time! You are an awesome warrior. While I was having 3 removed in the dentist's chair on Saturday without being put to sleep, I thought I was pretty brave. But then the Romanian assistant came in, and she said that in Romania, there was no anesthetic for this stuff when she was a ...

Good gracious! Looking lovely, keep up the good work!

(I always think, even though it's the ortho's expertise that places the braces, the hard work is us putting up with them and keeping them clean.)

That depends on the cause of your lisp, and the outcome of your braces. I have a little lisp related to a tongue thrust problem. It won't be fixed by the braces, because they aren't closing my open bite. To the contrary, I need to go to a speech pathologist to get rid of the tongue thrust (and the l...
