Well the pain is temporary, your mouth eventually will get used to it. Even though it feels horrible now it will get better, you just have to get through it. Eating ice cream helps too, the cold slows the wires or something b/c the wires are heat activated.

I think around 10 months into my treatment I got the xray done. They told me they do it to check the roots to make sure it wasn't touching. They had to readjust my brackets at my next adjustment after the xray to fix them.

My ortho has a mailbox outside his office for emergency supplies. There's elastics, wax, etc in there for his patients to take when they need it. I'm sure your ortho will provide you with more elastics if you ask.

I get my teeth cleaned every 6 months, I also got a cleaning before I got braces put on. There is a sign at my ortho office that recommends routine checkups with my dentist. Just got an adjustment today... they put me back on powerchains and I have class II elastics on the left and triangles on the right front side of the teeth. I don't remember my teeth ever being this sore in a long time! Next adjustment is in 4 weeks. I took 1 aleve, 4 ibuprofen and it has not helped...

I would ask both and several others and compare costs. It may be beneficial to go to original ortho but even if you choose someone else they can have your records sent to the new ortho anyway. Good luck!

It was expected of me to get my teeth cleaned before braces were put on so I would definitely get them cleaned. Once those braces are on, it will be harder to get them cleaned. Good luck!
