Re: Will it ever feel comfortable again?

Time flies. Can't believe you'll be hitting the one year mark soon! Your bite will get more comfortable as time goes by. Mine was awkward for pretty much the entire duration of my treatment, I have keen senses, so I would absolutely feel it if one tooth/side feels a little higher or is knocking agai...

Re: Teeth tipping during alignment stage?

I'd definitely ask your ortho about it. I don't know common this is, but I remembered a conversation I had with my ortho when I voiced my concerns/worry regarding a "punched-in" finished look that I sometimes see with post braces pictures. My ortho told me that that happens because there w...

Re: is this ok/common? (regarding loose brackets)

No, it's not common. Which tooth is this? Is this a crowned tooth? The glue tend to not bond very well with crowns compared to natural tooth enamel. It could also be that your bite is awkward now and is biting off your bracket. Which could be why your ortho is leaving it off until your bite is not i...

Re: Brackets and brackets position

I also experienced my first molar becoming crooked. Mine happened on both lower right and left 1st molars. I think it's kinda a common side effect. I don't think it's got anything to do with not having a bracket on the 2nd molar. My ortho is now working to correct the misaligned 1st molar and then I...

Re: Can’t find an ortho to actually fix my bite...

All orthos specialises in correcting bite issues. It's pretty much the main bulk of the orthodontic specialty and straight or not is actually secondary. Are those 2 doctors you went to orthodontists or general dentists providing orthodontic care? If your open bite was due to tongue thrust habit, you...

Re: Bottom midline deviated...ortho says we can leave it, but...

Based on my own experience, it isn't worth fixing. I have been in elastics for almost a year now and I'm facing the same issue as you with the midline. It's 1mm off to the right. That 1 mm is proving to be an absolute pain in the butt to correct, and I have noticed it trying to slip back during the ...

Re: Ortho trying to make me change Oral Surgeon

Pretty sure that's not possible this late into treatment especially since you need to get the various insurance approvals before even going ahead. Perhaps what he meant by a "referral" was a loose term used to give the go ahead for surgery. If you are concerned that he's got you set up for...

Re: Midline off and slanted teeth???

My midlines have been off for pretty much my entire treatment and my ortho only started actively correcting them at 18 months into treatment. It's usually one of the last things that are corrected before braces are off. At 5 months in, you are still in the unraveling crowding/aligning stage, space c...

Re: Seeing a different orthodontist while away from home?

I've never heard of anyone seeing another orthodontist for several adjustments mid-treatment. I've only heard of people who went to a practice and they had 2 or more orthodontists in the office that they would see based on whomever was rostered. Your orthodontist is right, you are not going to be ab...

It's probably plaque. I have that too, and always had to made sure I brush around the brackets with an interdental brush.

This post is 10 years old. The OP would probably have already sorted out whatever pain issues there was.

Re: Deep bite

I personally had my deep bite corrected without a bite plate or turbo. My orthodontist only used regular archwires. Not sure how or what he did to be honest. Your dentist (is he an ortho? or just a general dentist?) frankly sounds clueless, I would get a second opinion.

Re: How long would it take to straighten out one side of teeth?

Do you have any idea why the one side is having trouble adjusting? Is it just resistant or is that a sign they did something wrong? Could be due to a couple of reasons or combination of reasons. For me, it's because of tooth size discrepancies. The size and thickness of my lower teeth are much smal...
