Re: is it weird to not have my top wire changed?

Wires do not have to be changed at every visit. Your doctor may use the same wire if the wire is still actively aligning the teeth (NiTi) and it is not possible to put in the next wire in sequence or if the current wire is strong enough to continue the movements that are needed before the next appoi...

Re: Anterior Open bite treatment: Elastics vs TADs/MSI

TADs and Elastics are not mutually exclusive. They can both be used. Scenario 1. TADs can be placed in the posterior region above the roots of the molars. Elastics can be used to intrude the back molars, allowing the front teeth to touch better together. Scenario 2. TADS can be place in the anterior...

Re: Gap forming just before removal

Congrats on getting so close to finishing off!

You'll want to visit your doctor to make sure everything is where it should be before our braces come off. It is possible that the wire was tied in differently because there were no molar bands, allowing some space to form. Good luck!

Re: Invisalign Tray Removal Tips

Congrats on getting started! One of the things to try is to take the aligners off from the back on the inside at the top, then slide them out and around toward the front until you get to the middle. After that, start from the inside at the top on the other side and slide around again. For the bottom...

Re: Did Bite blockers speed up your treatment?

They help speed up treatment in that you can have your top and bottom braces on at the same time with a deep bite, and less likely that you will break off a lower bracket, which would slow down treatment. Generally, they are left on as long as needed to prevent the upper teeth from hitting the lower...

Re: Braces exposed triangles

When the teeth were overlapping, there was no gum in the area where there is now a triangle. Black triangles are the result of lack of gum in the area before lining up the teeth, the shape of the teeth, and the distance of the contact point from the level of the bone. Unfortunately, the overlap of t...

Re: Getting Invisalign in Canada or UK?

Sounds like the issues you've presented will not be corrected in a short amount of time and are more complex than 6-8 months of treatment. This means you would require full Invisalign. Invisalign Lite or Invisalign Express do not move teeth faster. They simply limit the number of trays you can recei...

Re: Maximum Intrusion Possible with Invisalign G5

Couple of things to note. The simulation is not how your teeth will look. It is a simulation of the aligners that are created. Our simulations rarely look like the final result we want. The analogy is of a paper clip being bent to remain straight. You often have to overdo certain movements in order ...

Re: invisalign with extraction

I too went for getting invisalign braces as I had a minor protrusion that has been bothering me. I visited Dr. Jennifer in City Oasis Dental in Toronto and she told me I have to extract 4 teeth. I was 21 years old then and I too didn't want metal braces but she told me I cannot get invisalign if I ...

Re: invisalign with extraction

There are few doctors in the world doing four premolar extraction treatment with Invisalign with excellent results. The reason for this is that it is not easy to move roots of the molars and premolars while keeping them parallel. More often than not, many doctors find the teeth will tip so the crown...

Re: Lost/Broken attachments, emergency or not?

Some attachments are there for actively moving the teeth. Others are there for passively anchoring other units of teeth. Generally, the attachments are important, if planned properly by your doctor. There are times towards the end of the sets of aligners when most of the movements have been achieved...

Re: Severe misalignment but qualified for Invisalign?

Being qualified for Invisalign is dependent on: 1. the severity of the malocclusion 2. the experience and ability of your treating doctor We see many patients every week that have been told they are not candidates for Invisalign where we see absolutely no issue at all using aligners to produce excel...

Re: Will Invisalign fix overbite?

It is going to sound like semantics, but the question should be "Did my orthodontist plan the Invisalign to correct my overbite?". In the right hands, many different treatments can be completed with Invisalign. That being said, your results will differ depending on the doctor that plans yo...

Re: Attachments are on. :(

It is not uncommon for our Invisalign patients to be worried about the appearance of attachments. The truth is that patients notice them more themselves than other people do. Most of our patients realize that no one else sees them, apart from others who also have Invisalign :). The positive outlook ...
