Re: Wisdom teeth removal , anybody?

I only had 3 wisdom teeth and had them all pulled when I was about 23. They were erupted and it only took the Navy dentist a couple moments. They didn't break apart and she didn't have to dig, so that helped. I had to walk back to the ship numb, swollen, and drooling blood; but other than that it wa...

Re: braces at the age of 38

Welcome! From what I've read and watched, expanders are more of a pressure than a pain. Most say there's some getting used to talking with them in. There's a couple folks here that have had them and can give more of a first hand experience. If you do a search for expander I'm sure you'll come up wit...

Re: Post Surgery Sickness

Don't get stressed about it. Tell your surgeon your concerns and about your previous surgeries. They should be able to fix things up so that you won't get nauseous; either with meds or give you an NG tube to suction out the blood that typically collects in the stomach and causes it. In general, you'...

Re: TMJ - getting braces tomorrow!

My clicking and popping stopped around the 2 week mark for me. My bite started shifting around the same time. The cramped muscle above my ear (temple area) has finally started to relax a bit. When my ortho gave me the splint I honestly didn't think it was going to do a thing other than keep my mouth...

Re: Need braces JUST to get jaw surgery?!?!

I did see one case of traumatic injury that resulted in a broken jaw. The patient had metal strips wire tied to her teeth individually. The metal strip was up near her gums. Both upper and lower jaws had that metal strip and that was wired together to hold the jaws in place. I'm not sure they'd do t...

Re: TMJ - getting braces tomorrow!

Congrats! Sounds like I'm a month or 2 behind you with similar treatment. The clicking and popping was becoming too annoying and painful to put up with anymore so I finally decided to do something about it.

Good luck on your journey.

Around $14k total?

Any idea what your cost would have been here in the states at the cash rate?

A couple other things to think about; your available sick time (and what your new bosses might say) and when your healthcare would officially start.

ETA looks like you figured out what I typed...

Re: 25 (almost 26) year old adult - braces for open bite?

Welcome! I think I read somewhere that newbies can't edit their posts and regular members can only edit for an hour.

Hope that helps.

Find an ortho that you're comfortable with. If you have to consult X number of them to find that right ortho you want to work with do it.

Re: Anyone here Dip Snuff

Guessing something like bandits would work the easiest; I'm going to be in the same boat in a couple weeks.

I might try the patch, ecig, or lozenges and get off tobacco completely.

Re: Desperately wanting my braces off

I can understand you wanting the braces off right now, but think about the future too. I'd rather have my ortho fix everything right once than get back into braces later in life to fix the small problems that might come up. Make sure your teeth are perfect for you no matter how long it take this tim...
