Do clear elastics exist?

I'm going to Vegas at the end of the month and while I don't mind my people seeing my braces, I feel a little weird about the elastics being so visible.

Either way, I'll be good and keep the darn things in. :)

Different pains for diff teeth?

I'm 3 months into treatment and I have powerchains on my molars connecting to the premolars and canines on the bottom teeth as well as class III elastics (upper 1st molar connected to lower canine). My canines feel AWFUL! The pain is much sharper than in my incisors or molars. One of them even click...

I wish I would lose some weight!

I'm using the lack of eating as much junk food to kick start weight loss. I'm finally going back to the gym. I can't eat any kind of candy and with rubber bands my mouth hurts way too much to over eat.

Well, at least I haven't gained :)

Parents and braces

It's come up a few times in different posts so I know there's some consensus that many of us were upset with parents for not getting them braces/taking a huge interest in overall dental care. That said...has anyone ever sat their parents down and REALLY had a heart to heart talk with them about thei...

Glad to know I'm not alone! Srsly, b/w the elastics on my upper molar and the power chains I'm on a diet of chili, yogurt and applesauce! I've been taking motrin and it helps but srsly...OUCH! I haven't had pain like this since the spacers. Here's to speedy healing and less pain (til the next adjust...

Power chain on lower back teeth, anyone?

I didn't even realize until I got home last night that I have powerchains linking my molar bands to the bi-cuspids (the assistant who worked on these is FAST and I didn't even feel the chains being put on). B/w that and the elastics on my upper molar...I've got class III elastics, I'm in more pain t...

It's totally normal to feel emotional. For a lot of us, fixing our teeth takes us back to when we were kids and got teased for our appearance. You end up working on every psychological issue from the teasing to even resentment that your parents did nothing to help you fix the problem. I had original...

2nd adjustment...and rubber bands!

So it'll be 3 months this week since I got braces. My front tooth gap is nearly gone! I'll post pics whenever I find my camera charger. So now they'll be working on the under bite. I asked my ortho some questions today about the actual masking of under bite. For one, if I'm a good elastic-wearing fi...

Oops hit the submit button too early. In less than 3 months, my gap is almost closed! If only my bottom teeth would start cooperating!

So yeah, happy so far but I have a long way to go.

1) It's my first time in braces (parent's couldn't/wouldn't finance them when i was growing up)

2) My insurance covers half, and the other half was funded through my performance bonus at work.

It's been just over 2 months. About 6-8 weeks in people noticed my front tooth gap closing. When I started I could put a popsicle b/w my front teeth, now I can barely get a toothpick in. Trust me, it's exciting :)

Most don't notice unless I mention something I'd rather not eat. Others point it out excitedly. A few people have been genuinely happy for me because they knew how self conscious I've felt about my teeth all my life. I've yet to get negative feedback...but I know folks are tired of me griping about ...
