Re: Need Flossing Help?

I just floss like I used to, with regular old floss. I just have to push/pull it from under/over the wire, and then floss normally. It took me a few days to get the hang of it, but now it's a pretty quick job.

Re: I got my braces off today

I have been told that if I want my teeth to stay straight post-braces, I may need to wear my retainer for the rest of my life, at least at night. I hope they can fit one with a nightguard on it for my bruxism.

Your teeth look beautiful BTW! :D

Re: Questions on brushing programming/electric brushes

I have an elaborate description of my nightly oral hygiene on my blog at http://www.sevinsense.com. All you need to do to add baking soda to your routine is to sprinkle baking soda on your toothbrush and brush normally for 30-60 seconds; as you'll read on my blog, I do this first before everything e...

Re: Loose front tooth and it's lower than the other front on

Oh thanks! It just feels so strange. I'm afraid it's going to fall out! I'm no dentist, but when I worry about my teeth falling out, I remind myself that I use my Waterpik and floss daily, and rinse with hydrogen peroxide and mouthwash, and with all that hygiene action going on, my gums are too hea...

Re: Braces after a breakup

Agreed. As you get older, people start taking their teeth more seriously and less for granted... So when we meet someone, one of the things we often consider is, does that person take care of him or herself?

Re: Custom nightguard to fit over my braces

I'm a grinder - have lost two bottom molars to a bad bite and I guess possibly grinding. Prior to being braced I saw many orthos for consults as well as general dentists about my TMJ and I spent thousands on splints/guards etc. Never did anyone suggest I could get a guard while being braced - I'd a...

You seem to be progressing really well - definitely keep taking pictures because one day you'll put together a slideshow and it will be amazing to watch. Congratulations for making the decision to do this!

Re: Movement in only one month!

OK finally figured out how to get a picture from my iPhone to my computer... so, in lieu of a "before" photo, I will just say that facing the picture, the front bottom tooth on the right (my left) used to "hide" behind the two adjacent teeth, so it was basically sticking "in...

Re: How long from records/impressions until "brace day"?

2 1/2 weeks total - three days after my first consult they put in spacers, then they had to wait 2 weeks for the spacers to make enough room to install braces.

Re: Foods you try to get away with having braces...

My dentist gave me a long list of no-no foods, and I have been abiding by the list because I don't want to break anything and somehow prolong the orthodontic treatment. It's bad, though - I already have a not-so-healthy meal planned as soon as I'm debraced: 1. Nachos (I really miss chips and salsa!!...

Custom nightguard to fit over my braces

Does anyone else have a nightguard for night grinding? I have had really bad bruxism for over 20 years - root canals, cracked teeth, worn down teeth, you name it. Thousands of dollars later and years of excruciating pain and lack of sleep later, my dentist told me that one reason I may have bad grin...

Re: Upset and scared!!

I'm so sorry that happened - :( Clenching is so bad for your teeth... I have had terrible clenching/grinding for over 20 years and I actually have lots of permanent damage, including cracked teeth. I don't mean to scare you, I just want to share how it's negatively impacted my life. Fortunately, I d...
