Re: What does everybody put in smoothies?

Ground flaxseed! It's relatively inexpensive and has good fibre and omega 3 :)

Can't drink without swishing

Hi guys, just wanted to share that I cannot drink anything without first swishing it around my mouth. Especially after a meal, when I have food particles stuck in my braces and go for a drink of water to dislodge it all. This probably looks disgusting in public. Any thoughts, similar experiences or ...

Bad smell when changing wires

Can anyone else smell a really bad odor each time they get their wire taken out and replaced? I'm worried that that is what my breath smells like and now I am self conscious to talk to anyone :< Any extra tips on cleaning or bad breath remedies (other than the standard brushing and flossing) would b...

Re: How do you stay positive when you're not seeing any changes?

I'm in my second month and feel your frustration. It would be nice if the orthodontist would explain what movements they're trying to achieve; I have no idea what's going on in my mouth right now.

I second this, it's like chewing with only 2 teeth at the beginning but the molar build ups wear down over time

Re: Extract one side at a time or all at once?

just wondering how is the removal process was it painful no pain at all? I'm afraid I'm going to have nightmare as I still have a few weeks before the process! Not gonna lie to you - it was painful for me. Mainly because of the many injections of anaesthesia required and I was scared, but the...

Re: Extractions soon - freaking out!

I had to have a couple extractions too!! My advice would be this... When they start applying the different anesthesia to your gums (my dentist used some stuff stuff then shots) make sure they get numbed up really really well. They will typically check by poking the spot a little and asking if you c...

Re: Extractions soon - freaking out!

Would just like to update that I've gone through with it and survived :-* It took just over an hour and I was able to listen to music from my earphones which reeeally helped take my mind off some of the pain. Need to swallow some pain killers but I physically cannot yet. Here's to a smooth recovery!...

Re: Extract one side at a time or all at once?

I had 2 upper wisdom and 4 premolars extracted at one ago under LA. Then braces on by the 6th day. I would say get it done with at one go. Eating will be an issue irregardless the number of extraction sessions. You'll be fine. :) I HAVE JUST DONE IT. That was so intense, but I'm glad I got them all...

Re: Extract one side at a time or all at once?

Get them all out at once. That's what I did with my wisdoms. Same here! With wisdoms it might be a little different though since it's a more invasive procedure. I got it done under general anaesthesia and it made sense to do it all at once. But premolars and braces, in the chair, wide awake...? I d...

Re: Extract one side at a time or all at once?

I'm getting my teeth extracted next month so would like to read inputs on this. I was thinking of getting 4 teeth at once to get it over with but I guess eating would suck so much! I know right! I'm going for extractions today, will let you know how it goes :) The way i see it, it would be ha...

Extract one side at a time or all at once?

Hi guys, four premolar extractions. What would you do? Pros and cons. One side at a time: +Can chew on other side while healing -Have to go in for two extraction appointments -Possibly more fear for the second extraction because you know what to expect All at once: +Get it all over and done with +On...

Re: Extractions soon - freaking out!

Thank you everyone for the support and advice, it's been interesting hearing your thoughts. I'm going to try and get numbed up so much I won't be able to feel my face :) Another question I have is if doing it all in one go, or one side at a time is better? I know you can eat on the other side if you...
