I don't believe they are retainers, as they are just the next few aligners.
I am sure it's fine, but after one year with invisalign, I definitely don't want to move backwards! thx

I also email my ortho when I have concerns, so this may be an option for you as well.

Don't give up.
Talk to your orthodontist and she/he should be able to figure something out for you.
The first few weeks are tough because you are getting used to a foreign object in your mouth.
