I had the box configuration, plus class II elastics on either side. It was really not that bad, even when I was on my first-ever overseas vacation. Like everything else braces-related, I had a split second reaction of horror when I first saw them on, but really... they do work fast and I got over it...

Mine is old school like yours... he has a manila folder where he writes everything on one short line after each appointment. I wouldn't be concerned about this unless you are near the end of your treatment and there are still things you are unhappy with. There is a certain order that things have to ...

de-bracing anxiety/are they really ready?

Hi all, I'm due to get my braces off on June 1 and there's a couple things I'm nervous about. 1. What does the ideal bite look like from the inside, ie, how are the molars supposed to line up on the lingual side? I can't find any diagrams of this. I'm asking because I when I bite down and run my ton...

Hey Andromeda, we'll be de-bracing buddies, cause my date is 6/1! :) Well, three weeks of zigzagging elastics (or "snakes" as my ortho calls them) were always part of the plan... I guess it's his standard procedure for tightening everything up before retainers. I only have an archwire on t...

So, I could have gotten my braces off already, but I extended my treatment time by three weeks because it was more advantageous for insurance purposes. I know I'm being responsible and stuff, but it was reallllly tempting to just pay the extra money out-of-pocket and have them gone already. Anyway, ...

I looked into doing this but even with my puny non-profit salary, what I paid for braces in one year was not ENOUGH above 7.5% of my income to make it worth deducting instead of just taking the standard deduction. If you can work it out so that you pay for everything all in one year, it might be wor...

Congrats on getting braced! About how long is your treatment?

Sorry to hear about your break-up. :? I hope the braces aren't having *too* much of an effect on your dating life!

Thanks everyone for your well-wishes. :) Andromeda, sorry about the extended time in braces--you seem to be taking it well, though! It's worth it to get them as perfect as they can be. I have to say this is the ONE area of my life where I pride myself on being "compliant." Normally that wo...
