To be honest, sounds pretty par for the course in my experience working with most people in the medical field in France. As drrick said, the damons come in a box and they just pull them out of a drawer. In the end, it's a judgement call on your part as to whether or not you have treatment with the o...

The worst that can happen is that it doesn't help, so I don't see why it wouldn't be worth a try. It might be more helpful to get a well fitting splint though which would probably be about $400-$700 but should last you longer than chiropractic. I'd work on getting insurance though. You can only band...

My three week appointment did not exactly go as planned, but the jaw is fine and they're still happy with the results, so that's good. I'm able to change the bands, but the one that goes to the bottom molar in the back is hard to get, especially with the corner of my lips all split. Anbesol kinda he...

Xray fun
I saw my two week xrays yesterday and they are pretty gnarly, so of course I think everyone will enjoy them! This is my third lefort and second bsso. Surgery was a bear because of many complications from previous surgeries that I'm not really comfortable going in to here, but whatever, surgeons are ...

Glad everyone is doing mostly ok. Descantus, the sleeping pills really helped me - you might think about asking for some. Interesting about the anesthesia. They gave me some med right before they wheeled me away to the OR that they said would have an amnesiac effect. They weren't kidding. I remember...

How you doing Descantus? I'm home for a few days (yay kitties missssssed me!), but heading back down to the surgeons for my appointment on Tuesday. I'm hoping it goes better than last week. Swelling has gone down a bit but I'm still pretty puffy. Stitches in my lip from my lip reconstruction are get...

I basically had something like this but instead of intruding the teeth, they cut down all my teeth to try to get my bite to meet, and now I have 20 crowns. It didn't work, which sucks because now I have my teeth bonded back up to their original height for the current surgery, and I'm having all 20 c...

I think blue cross pretty dependably covers about 10k normally of an arnett/gunson surgery, which isn't much of a dent, but it's something. Their insurance person probably told you something to the effect of that. My blue cross covered 18k of it, but I'm a mess of a redo and my overall fee was prett...

I've actually had three surgeries over 14 years - last one was two weeks ago and I really hope it's the last one because, as you know, these surgeries suck. First one was when I was 15 and the second was at 20. They say mine regressed due to a combination of the first two surgeries being mediocre in...

I got a little frustrated at my appointment today. Apparently I'm swollen way more than usual at the two week mark, due to one of the materials used in my fairly extensive bone grafting. It's irritating because there are girls there at the one week mark who look way way better than me! The surgeon s...

I'm with one of the top surgeons in the country and he bands with no splint, so I'm pretty sure your surgeons comment, while well intentioned, is erronous. I'll also mention that as someone who has been wired with a splint, being banded with no splint is a million times easier after surgery (still s...

It's all done on the inside of the mouth. Cleaning depends on the surgeon. I'm on saline rinses and peroxide rinses for 2 weeks, and then I can brush. I can't wait! I'm pretty sure my other surgeons let me brush earlier, but whatever, I'll do what I'm told. The reasoning is that the brushing can rea...

I'm looking forward to tomorrow - tooth brushing day omggggggggg I can't wait. I'm doing alright. My upper lip that was reconstructed (because of old scar tissue making it flip to the inside) is still pretty fat, but I'm hopeful that it will look good once it goes down and the drooling should go dow...

I won't lie, I loved not having to pee on my own. I probably shouldn't admit to that lol In any case, catheters don't hurt and you'll be feeling like such butt from the anesthesia that you'll be grateful that you don't have to get up and walk to the loo. The nurses will have seen things much more ho...
