Also even with a permanent retainer, you still have to wear a removable retainer. Is that right?? Sure is. I have a permanent retainer on the six front bottom teeth because I had a lot of crowding and my ortho was concerned that even with compliance using my removable retainer, there might be some ...

Re: Advice please on Clarity SL brace & Clarity Aestheti

p.s - i've just read self ligating means no rubber bands!!?? does that mean no elastics??? No, all it means is that you won't need ligatures to hold your wires in place (the little rubber bands that go around each bracket that a lot of people have in various colors). I had self-ligating brackets an...

Haha! What some people call 'Drama Queen', I call 'Flair for Storytelling'. I had my one week check up yesterday and the periodontist said that everything is healing really well. I go back in another two weeks for another check in and hopefully at that point, I will be able to start brushing my teet...

Ha, and you thought my story was over! I have moved into the next chapter of my journey... GUM GRAFT Dun-dun-DUN!! My appointment was September 23rd. Because I am a big chicken (not so much with pain but I really freak myself out thinking about what is being done), I opted for IV sedation. There was...

Bonding isn't always considered cosmetic. For example, if you get bonding to correct a chipped tooth, it is often considered restorative and some of the cost will be covered by insurance.

Re: Why exactly is it that flossing with braces is so import

I *hate* flossing and *never* do it. And my teeth haven't suffered for it - they're very healthy. Just because you haven't suffered any health repercussions yet doesn't mean it is okay not to floss. By not flossing, you are guaranteeing yourself major dental problems down the line. And some damage ...

You will be amazed by the sheer amount of people who really won't care about your braces. We obsess over them and because we do that, we assume everyone else is focused on them as well. But they don't, they really don't! I got together with my boyfriend while I had braces and we've been together for...

I found that I was much more sensitive to adjustments and such during the first year. After that, my teeth were generally in the right place and it was just a matter of tweaking so it was pretty easy to 'forget' about my braces. I was able to each just about everything. Hang in there, it will get be...

In actuality, your teeth are not as yellow as you think they are. Because teeth are somewhat translucent, having glue and brackets on your teeth can affect how the color appears -- basically, it's an optical illusion. When I had my braces on, I thought my teeth looked hideously yellow and had all so...

How people treat your braces is largely dependent on how you treat them. If you are confident and act like it is no big deal, people will take their cues from that. If you act ashamed and are constantly trying to hide them, it will make people notice them more. The entire time I had my braces, only ...

Honestly, probably the only person who is going to care about your braces is you. We become so fixated on our teeth that we kind of subconsciously assume the everyone around us scrutinizes our smiles as much as we do. But they don't! They really don't. In the beginning, they might as questions about...
