Thanks for the great info you guys!

And yes, the bracket is closer to the gum on the shorter teeth. I kind of have small teeth anyway so the brackets take up nearly the whole tooth on some of them.

Give us an update about 48 hours in

It's not that bad the first day. Second and third days are the ones that were painful for me. Nothing that Mortin can't handle, though.

You'll be fine. Good luck with your treatment!

Tooth size & shape

Just a couple of questions I always forget to ask the ortho when I'm there.

A few of my teeth are shorter than the teeth around them. Is this something that's usually taken care of during treatment? By what means? Elastics?

Also some of my teeth have uneven/jagged edges. Does the ortho shape them?

Thanks, Meryaten!

I have a Colgate, too, but it isn't nearly as soft as the GUM brush. Maybe Colgate makes one in extra soft/sensitive (?) I'll have to check it out.

The actual placing of the brackets was very quick. They placed all the top ones at once and then all the bottom ones at once via some kind of mouth piece that had the brackets already inside. I'd say it didn't take more than 15-20 minutes for mine to be put on.

It's not uncommon that you can hardly feel the braces after several days. The archwire isn't loose. You've just gotten used to the pressure that is being put on your teeth.

Congrats to you both for getting braced! :D

I think everything is okay, mark. In the beginning, and all through treatment, your teeth will go through stages of feeling "loose". This lets you know that there's some movement going on. Progress! :D

Softest Toothbrush

I prefer manual toothbrushes. I got a great one from my dentist. It's GUM brand, but I can't find it in stores anywhere.

What's the softest toothbrush you've found?

The molds felt so odd. You're just not used to having your mouth stuffed so full of gunk

Chewing makes it "hurt so good". I always use my bite wafer after adjustments and try to chew as much as I can. You wouldn't believe how much that helps. Crazy, but it works. Good luck! :D
