Re: Jaw is slanted. :/

Not to hijack the OP's thread, but can you elaborate on this? Do the elastics shift the teeth into position so the bite meets properly? I'm 8 months in and braces have seriously screwed up my bite. Could really use some good news that there is hope on the horizon! Hi Marigold, I don't think that's ...

Debanding Fears and What you Did - Anyone push back date?

As so many other's expressed i'm trying to balance the excitement of having a debanding date with the other fears that come along with it. While I'm not looking forward to the process, I'm not scared of having these darn things ripped out of my mouth. What I AM worried about is that I'm not really "...

Re: Jaw is slanted. :/

first of all, I will say that I laughed out loud at the emoticon in the thread title. sorry to hear that you're having a problem, getting used to the aesthetics at first can be tough. Do you have before and current pictures to compare? Like other's have said, it would be tough for 3 months of braces...

Re: Which electric toothbrush do you use/like?

For cost effectiveness I used the Oral-B Vitality for a long time, but recently switched to the basic sonicare brush with the special orthodontic/soft head. It really was worth it.

Re: I found popcorn we can eat!!!

I bet they're similar to pirate booty. Anyone heard of it? It started off mostly at health food stores (whole foods and trader joe's and the like), but now is available in a lot of common groceries. It's my go-to popcorn alternative. The frito-lay is probably a cheaper version though, pirate booty i...

Re: Orthodontist Passed Away

Wow, I never even THOUGHT about that happening (and my ortho is elderly so perhaps I should, but it feels weird). I think if there's still even tweaks to get done that you should at least go see another ortho (perhaps they have a referral?) they should absolutely provide you all your records. The tr...

Re: Brace-Friendly Movie Snacks

First of all, if there's already a thread for this, please accept my apologies. :) Second of all, I know that movie theaters don't want you to bring your own snacks. But if I just happen to have a bottle of water and some food in my purse, well... ;-) So hubby and I like to get a Coke and popcorn w...

Re: had a "Kim" wire with your elastics?

Krey, is this your ortho? when I was doing more MEAW research I came upon this website http://www.jupitersmileon.com/treatment-options.php they say they are one of two in florida (or south florida) that do it.

Re: FAQ and Vocabulary List for Newbies (or whomever!)

I learned a lot of vocab that my ortho has spouted off from the videos on here. I think they're a little trucky with some of them because they make all the movement look so simple and FAST, but it's nice to see the ideology behind the use of some of these appliances. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/us...

Re: How strong are elastics?

So I'm not sure this applies to the direction the thread took, but I saw the title and had just discovered these videos and wanted to share them. I've been really curious about how elastic formations are concocted (seems like more of an art than a science) and what are the typical formations for com...

Corn on the cob Pop corn Whole apples chocolate caramel candies made by a freind 1.5 months left to go! And fresh corn will still be in season! I thought about this a LONG time (drifted into some fantasy daydreaming actually) before I answered, ha! mine are pretty much the same as above, though I e...

Re: Looking for orthodontist Chicago take off braces

I can PM you the name of my ortho, but no guarantees that he'll do it, especially without records of the progress your teeth made. You could also google Dolgi (sp) I found him to be a bit shady, but a friend of mine had her invisilign down with him and liked him. he seems to be willing to do whateve...

Re: Whitening after braces?

There are definitely in office procedures as well. Sometimes called "laser whitening" a common name brand for this type is "zoom" teeth whitening if you want to google it. I don't want to wait more than a minute post-debanding to whiten, but I have sensitive gums so i'm sure I'm one of the ones who ...

Re: Midline adjustment

I'm hoping to find this out myself. I'm in a heavy elastics stage. I started with crowding, not gaps, but a gap has started to open between my two front teeth from elastics working so hard to pull my lowers back and close my bite. My midline is definitely off and I'm not sure what elastic formation ...

Re: Study Finds Harmful Bacteria on 50% of Retainers

yeah, my mom got an oral thrush (candida/yeast) infection this way. she doesn't have a "compromised immune system" in any sever way, the yeast just happened to take over at a time when she also had a cold and perhaps some gum irritation and therefore her body was busy fighting off something else. th...
