As adults, we are aligning teeth and bites, but not influencing jaw growth as happens with children and teens. So there may well be some compromise. However, the goal should produce quite acceptable results. My partner and I are doing this together. He would have needed minor jaw surgery to get a pe...

Am now 6 to 8 weeks between adjustments. Self Ligating brackets and power chains, a couple elastics and night time hg wear. All is well. Real arches have formed where before there were quite a few snaggles...looking back, why did I think all was well?

glad to hear things are going well. I'm sitting here in my headgear waiting for the day I can write as you just did. But all is going well for me and I can really feel the arches take shape and the bite begin to settle in place. Never realized it was as off as it was until recently.

"Don't see you or chef at the ortho's anymore. We need to schedule a reunion appt." Do you think they'll let us?? (lol) Yes, I complete the practicum this summer and do orals on the field work beginning of Sept. Should get my papers in Dec. (yippe!) Glad the switch to "real mouth gear" has gone smoo...

I love greens of all kinds: cooked with pork or sausage, cooked in a curry, cooked with fish or chicken in a soup or stew...kale collards spinach escarole whatever...I crave it and go for it. You can imagine the rest. Chef has an expander/maintainer on the roof of his mouth and he is hilarious to wa...

Chew gum ...YES! even with headgear. avoid crunch foods...some, depends on if I'm sore after an adjustment ... but I've had no prob with peanuts. Popcorn is just real messy and I can wait. No issues with cheese and crackers, and crusty chewy bread can be dunked if need be. Hate soggy salads so it ha...

My non professional guess is: as a kid your jaw is growing and it is possible to push teeth into spaces and influence growth by doing so. As an adult it is not. To align and level teeth requires more leverage than just pushing here or there. Even aligners have limitations and some folk require many ...

#1 if your ortho did not see his/her way to a successful completion, he/she would not have undertaken you as a patient. You would have been recommended to another dental professional for treatment first. #2 If you have periodontal concerns, (gum issues) get a recommendation from your dentist or orth...

Yo DA, things can indeed begin to look quite weird as the teeth begin to move but soon enough they settle into place. You will be amazed at how fast things will look normal, and then comes the months of leveling tipping etc when you think nothing is happening but in reality the bite is being meshed ...

Looking good friend. And yes I completely understand what you mean about feeling the inside of your teeth lining up. Very new and wonderful for me too. (I'm about 5 weeks behind you.)

InOvation are similar to Damon, both are self ligating. I got them too. The ortho said they give a nice smooth ride. Can't say I've had any problems.
