I have read that KK doesn't have any pain....and god bless her Ortho! Yes, I know Karen likes her ortho very much! I really don't think that's the reason she's been pain free and you haven't, however. As you indicate, some people just naturally don't have much discomfort, either when first braced o...

To Karen's comment: the lower lip fitting more tightly around the braces seems to make sense, but I sugges...

neas, it's true that many people experience quite of bit of movement early, but not everyone. I think the degree of movement depends on how the teeth are situated in the mouth, and the type of maloclusion you have. If you're concerned, definitely talk to your ortho.

Take good care :!:

Oh, and I have to say (close your ears...erm, make that eyes...anyone yet to have their first adjustment!) that taking the old wires out and putting the new ones in hurt like *insert expletive*!!! I can't remember it hurting so much the first time I had braces. It hurt when the assistant was 'openi...

Hi Mike, I finally had a chance to read your entire blog. I think you have enormous fortitude and a great attitude about hopefully getting your TMJ issues down to a manageable level. My daughter (now 32) also has TMJ -- at least she did as a teenager, although it seems to be under control now. The o...
