Probably too late now if you have chosen, I would not go for any of those in the link because they are all way too expensive. I made the mistake several years ago of using a $200 gift card on an expensive Orab B. It lasted about 2 years and that was it. I am now using an Oral B Vitality precision th...

Starting point with pics.

I have been experimenting and slowly getting the hang of taking a pic of my teeth, the images below are 3 days after my braces were bonded. Looks like I have a long way to go, correct rotations first, get arches to match, top will be widened by the brace, levelling, surgery to move bottom jaw forwar...

Sutsee and Becks, Day 3 for me, things are much improved, I used lots of wax last night and no wax today so far. I managed half an apple after lunch, still painful but bearable, as KK keeps saying, it helps to chew, I actually feel pretty good now. We are all close in terms of when we got braced, ke...

Hi Karen, That's it, I officially designate you to be my role model!! Looking great, I hope I can match your progress. Your pics are really great, what camera do you use? I cannot seem to get anything good with my wifes Pentax Optio 230? Do you use flash or some other lighting? Your advice to me has...

Sutsee, Day 2 for me and I cannot believe how such a wimpy piece of 22 gauge wire can be causing me so much pain when I try to chew. Basically everything is fine with the braces until I either talk or eat! Talking is a problem because my lips have not got used to sliding over the brackets, eating ha...

I have all mine, one lower is impacted, none have brackets on. I will have surgery on my lower jaw in about a year, I'm guessing that something may happen then, so far my ortho has said no extractions.

I got mine on the 15th March at 48 years old, honestly, nobody will have any issues with you having braces and if they do, they are probably not worth knowing anyway. So far I have had nothing negative, most people either do not notice or say nothing, the ones that do notice have all been positive. ...

Hi Karen, Last night was much better, instead of taking the threader off the floss, I left it on and flossed with a double strand of floss, I think I cut the time in half. I also find that doing the top set first makes a big difference because the floss stays drier, gets pretty wet when doing the bo...

Thanks again for all the encouragement, the wax has helped a lot on the biting the cheek problem at the back and also on those spiky brackets on the front lower. During the day, I guess about 24 hours after the bonding, it all feels quite comfortable, to an extent I don't know that I have braces unt...

Hi Karen Thanks for all your encouragement, I think you were spot on with the ceramics being more comfortable, they are more bulky but not by much but way less "prickly" than the metals below. I got a total of 10 of the ceramics, Dr. K said that ceramics do not usually last long on back teeth due to...

Braced today at 48

Hi, The bonding was less of an issue than I had thought after reading many stories, the most unpleasent part was when the bottom In Ovations were all fitted, there was contact between a back bracket and an unbracketed top molar. Solution was to grind the bracket a bit, it could not be moved without ...

Hi,

I just got back from being braced today, I was told to avoid mustard, curry and Lipton's Chicken Noodle soup in particular!

KK, I do trust my ortho, at least a lot more than the other two I consulted with. I think the larger surface area argument is a good one, less pounds per square inch is better for sure. Also, with ceramics that use ligatures the archwire is close to the surface of the bracket, this also will help sp...

Thanks Ives,

Your advice is good, I just have to figure out which I am more comfortable with.
