Clo- I would have to say my guess would be that you would have a good chance of fixing your bite with surgery. I thought my own bite was hopeless, just something that would always be an annoying open bite. However, with a good surgeon I truly think a good result is highly possible. My bite is totall...

I was very lucky in this way. My OS was giving me a deal on the genio since I was having the upper and lower done. He was charging me $1,000 flat. In the mean time they (OS) submitted it to my insurance with the other two surgeries which had been approved. BCBS in SC covered the genio and my OS refu...

Clo- This totally stinks for you. I keep waiting (and hoping) to read one of your posts that is positive. Hang in there.................I still know a good surgeon in SC who could fix you up in a heartbeat. I hate to see you spending so much of life's energy on this. :( Surgery might be the best opt...

I also had ICE brackets. I had them removed and due to some shifting had four brackets put back on to adjust a couple teeth (long story but it worked!!!!). I remember that my ortho wanted to use regular metal braces and because I teach and would only have brackets on four teeth, I wanted the same IC...

Hi Phil- Hope you feel better. I'm out in the schools quite a bit with a University practicum class I teach this semester. I got the "creepy elementary school crud" last week as well. It still continues to linger. I had a horrible chest cold, drippy nose and sore throat....YUCK! None of my students ...

I have read many of your posts in the past and I was sorry to read this one. You deserve to be satisfied and something just doesn't look right. There appears to be to much variation front/back and updown in the top teeth. Talk to your ortho and tell him you are not satisfied. Easy to say and hard to...

Hi ChrisK- Good to hear from you and I hope you are doing well. My "weird" feeling is clearly in the upper lip area although I can also relate to the fact that numbness continues to improve well after surgery. I really didn't realize that I still had some residual numbness in three lower teeth until...

Upper lip function post, post, post surgery

Hello All- Many of you likely know that I had upper, lower and genio to correct a pretty bad anterior open bite. I am happy (fully happy) with the results and my braces are off. I do have one issue though and it relates to the function of my upper lip. It still feels so weird to take a sip of water ...

My then boyfriend and now husband was very supportive after surgery. Like others suggested, I warned him what it would be like and showed him pictures from Archwired and the Yahoo support group. Even though I was very swollen and couldn't talk well for several days, he'd always find a positive to th...

Hello- I just want to say that you are looking really good. You posted some pictures on your blog a while back and you look very different already. In my experience with upper/lower and genio, the genio made a huge difference in my profile but from a front view it was definately the reduction in the...

Haaa, another beer hater here  My husband is fan of all sorts of "fancy" beers. He always has me try it and I always say it tastes like something died in my mouth. I'll stick with root beer anyday!
