Re: Bigger teeth move quicker than smaller ones?

Do you mean molars vs front teeth? I've heard the 'front' teeth referred to as 'single-rooted' and molars referred to as 'multi-rooted'. I though molars were tougher to 'move' (as in, move position along the jawbone, not sure about extrusion/intrusion movement pace). My current treatment will either...

Re: Molar buildups

I have them too. They were a pain at first and eating is slower, but they quickly became 'normal'. I don't want to grind them away though, they're protecting my TMJs at the moment! If they're not high enough, I get awful headaches and feel all out-of-whack :? When they get a little 'worn', my dentis...

Re: Will an expander still work?

This is the perennial question - no matter how many times it's answered (and in what manner), it's always open for discussion! I'm in my 30's, in braces for the second time as an adult, and currently have an upper (sagittal) expander to reverse retraction following previous extractions. I was schedu...

Re: TICKER HELP NEEDED!

You do indeed, but I had trouble recently when I tried to update my ticker via tickerfactory; it would allow me to design the ticker, but then displayed the result as "incorrect url".

I assumed it was a problem with ticker factory, my old tickers still work ok..

Re: Are you reversing premolar extractions? Update please:)

Yep, I'm reversing bicuspid extractions. I had both upper second bicuspids extracted and the remaining uppers retracted to close the gaps. Without going into all the details, it ended up giving me a physical alignment that wasn't great for my health. I had a mandibular repositioning splint for a few...

Re: new addition!

Congratulations! I have been pregnant while in braces - but only just, & I didn't know it at the time! I fell pregnant with my first before I got debanded, I didn't discover until after they were off so I can't give you any advice. Hope you don't have any morning sickness, I imagine braces would not...

Re: Ortho Not Being Truthful?

My dentist told me from the start that it would be 3 years all up. Since this is my second time in braces as an adult, the most important thing to me is to get it right, & that will take as long as it takes. In fact, going too fast is the last thing I want, since I'm told that the success of adult e...

Re: How's Hawley retainer in terms of COMFORT compared to Es

I also had both Essix & Hawleys. I found the Hawleys much more comfortable the Essix, I didn't like the sensation of my teeth being covered & the inner edges of the lower rubbed on my palate/gums (but I have tori on both upper & lower palates from grinding, most people probably wouldn't find it unco...

Re: Am I being ripped off?

Not all dentists are no good with ortho; my NeuroMuscular Dentist is correcting the problems created by a highly qualified, highly experienced orthodontist. Traditional orthodontics left me with a retracted mandible, an excellent NM dentist was able to relieve the pain & other symptoms short-term, &...

My first wire this time around is rectangular. My treatment is estimated around 3 years; I wonder if I'll get a wire change at some point, or do I have my "finishing wire" already?!

Don't be bummed TMJJill, you've put it the hard yards & achieved what you probably once thought was impossible - you will have a stable, healthy bite which 1) functions well, 2) looks great, most importantly 3) DOESN'T CAUSE YOU PAIN - WOO HOO!! :-D :-D :-D How great is it that your only treatment c...

Re: Are my Canine + Lateral Incisors in Correct Position? (P

I see what you mean (in my untrained opinion). I didnt ask my ortho about little things like the twist in a lower lateral the first time I had braces. As Im going through orthodontics again, I have since discovered the little 'tweaks' I noticed but didnt mention the first time are actually indicativ...
