Re: Canine Exraction to Move Midline

I had 2 x upper second bicuspids extracted for overjet treatment. It was extremely quick, no trouble at all & healed quickly with no problems: you'll be fine. My tip is not to catch public transport home. I caught the tram & a train home from mine; the anesthetic hadn't worn off yet so my face was s...

Re: Dentist vs orthodontist

Personally I think the approach & methods of the professional are far more important than their title. My neuromuscular dentist is currently helping me enormously by reversing the treatment I received from an ortho. The neuromuscular approach in dentistry is like the functional approach in orthodont...

Re: Extraction Orthodontic Nightmare

Hi Momonamission, I was really sorry to hear your story. I don't have a lot of time to go into too much detail, but I wanted to post my experience so that it might give you some hope, or at least some ideas on where to start. I too emailed Dr Hang and a number of other orthos who deal with 'undoing ...

I'm curious, by "G.I. issues" do you mean gastrointestinal? Since you mentioned it it sparked my interest!

Re: Surgery precautions to take when wearing braces?

I haven't had a general anaesthetic but I have had a couple of day procedures with sedation whilst I had lower braces with lower FRLA and an upper expander. The expander was fairly heavy duty, all over the roof of my mouth - TPA banded to my first molars, joined to a Nance banded to my first premola...

Re: Ceramic braces on top, metal on bottom. Is this the norm

I've had both - I had metal upper & lower the first time (as an adult), & have ceramic upper & metal lower this time. I definitely felt like all metal was in the minority on AW the first time. Obviously heaps of people have all metal, it just seemed like 4 out of every 5 members had the ceramic/meta...

Re: Powerchains: Front and Center, or Hiding Behind Archwire

When I had traditional metal brackets (non-SL) my powerchains were always applied in front of the wire. I had them for most of my 18mth treatment, I never had one break, nor did anyone ever mention one might do so.

Never thought I'd be back...

I've been meaning to post for a little while now, sort of re-introduce myself I guess. I had braces about 7 years ago (as an adult), and joined Archwired when I was newly-braced. Archwired was quite different then, with a really active community environment, and posts and replies were being made all...

Re: Brace Day nerves

How did you go BraceForIt? How are you adjusting to your new life?

My top ones go on tomorrow. I'm delighted to get rid of my expander, but I'm really not happy to be going back into braces  Only another two years or so to go...!

Hope yours are agreeing with you :D

Re: Molar to molar elastics?

I'm completely guessing here, but do your molars need any extruding? A major part of my treatment will be raising the height of both upper and lower molars to increase the height of my bite (& this prevent the overclosing of my tmjs). I have no idea what elastics formations will be involved in extru...
