My opinion is that the most common problem with dissatisfaction of medical treatment in the US is from miscommunication between the Doc and the patient. More often than not a sit down conversation an result in a better line of communication and will allow you to air your grievances and will give you...

The ideal position is one in which no trauma is inflicted on your dentition while allowing for proper position to prevent trapping food and proper cleansing of your teeth and gums. In most cases that is an ideal Class I occlusion with 1-2 mm of overbite and overjet. But there is always an argument f...

In true rest position there should be no contact. unimaginative mention sounds like confusion with Centric Relation. Technically speaking, you should be in MIP when you swallow but that isn't always the case either.

I personally believe that healthcare is a team sport and should involve a team approach. Your provider (Dentist in this case) has many years of training and experience under their belt and is hopefully skilled at what they do. If you are uncomfortable with the diagnosis there is absolutely nothing w...

This is a good one  I have never read any research indicating that it is possible to transmit dental decay. I would guess that it is theoretically possible. But you already have the bacteria present in your own mouth that can cause dental decay. The secret to avoiding cavities is to keep that "...

You should theoretically take your kids to the dentist around their first birthday. By then they should have their primary central, lateral, molar and canine and waiting on their 2nd molar. If you start them early you will gain their trust and they can realize that the dentist office doesn't can be ...

That is a distal step and you are correct, it is a tool to help rotate your tooth. You will hopefully see results pretty quickly with it so expect a little pain/sensitivity.

Good Luck,

The ADA (looks like you are in the UK so do what you want :o ) recommends that you have a scaling and prophylaxis every 6 months. If you are in the high risk category, every 90 days is the way to go. Preventative care in dental treatment is the way to go, it will save you a lot of time and money in ...

Brit27's reply reminded me of the term my ortho used to describe my laterals. He called them 'peg laterals' Just out of curiosity Brit, did the dentist have to numb you're mouth for the bonding? I forgot to ask! I'm going to get the bonding either way though. On rare occasions they might. But there...

Hi, You have to remember that you are dealing with the human body. There are no guarantees, only expected results. But I can tell you that with dentistry and orthodontics that things do not always go as you plan or hope. Bonding is a viable recommendation and may be the best solution for you. I woul...

There is nothing wrong with trying the "cheaper" approach first. I can guarantee you that you can get a better result from a professional or in office system. But, the at home route may be enough whitening for your tastes. Everyone's expectations are different, the 2 weeks and $2X for the at home ki...
