It’d be nice to have topics organized by a specific Class problem. Like Class II people, Class III people, deep bites, etc.
I like this idea. Maybe also something that defines what these problems are. I always feel like I'm looking up some term because I don't know what it means.

Re: Damon braces first few days

I didn't really have any problems. I got my braces on Tuesday, and I had a dental cleaning the next day. The receptionist said she couldn't tell I had braces because I was speaking normally. I've found that my experience has been less painful and uncomfortable than most, though. I haven't had to use...

Re: New Here - Braces at 43

Hi Bryce! :-1 So it's almost two weeks since I got braces. Last week was the first week back to grad school for Spring Semester, and most of my cohort was excited to see my braces. A few of them asked me why I got braces, so I got to share my story with them. I haven't had to use any wax at all (kno...

Re: Metallic dental fillings : to change or not?

I'm late to the party, but I'm with everyone else and say leave them unless the filling is causing you problems. I have a rather large filling on my bottom left molar, and my last dentist told me that I would need to have it replaced, and that I'd also need a crown because of how large the filling i...

Wow, that sucks about needing surgery again for the infection. I hope this time gets it all.

Definitely seek out another opinion. It's weird that he didn't even look at your son, just the x-rays. At 19, he's definitely not too old. I'm 43 and just got braces last week.

I hope not! I've been using mine at least twice a day. It really does a great job of getting hidden food out.

I'm 43 and just got braces last week. It's never too late, but if you have the opportunity to get it done, go for it!

Re: new tongue crib

Linda, thanks for taking the time to explain that to me. I had no idea that correcting a tongue thrust would take so long, but I suppose that it's had years to be "trained," so it needs quite a bit of time to "untrain" it. Hopefully, all this hardware will become easier with you as the days pass. I'...

Re: New Here - Braces at 43

My daughter and I went to the local comic-con today. We had fun, bought too many things, and then went to the mall to buy more stuff. We went out for lunch, and since my teeth are sore, my options were limited to soup and grilled cheese. I had to tear the grilled cheese into pieces so I could mash i...

Re: ok, I've got options. Which way should I go?

Wow, it seems like you've had a really rough time. I'm a little worried that the ortho didn't catch the jaw asymmetry before putting the braces on your teeth. I mean, it seems like a big miss. I really hope that you are able to find a solution that will fix things with your mouth and jaw.

Re: How much teeth do you have?

I have 26. I had my wisdom teeth taken out during boot camp - the bottom two were impacted, and the top two were so far back that they pretty much ripped my cheeks every time I bit down. Then I had two top premolars extracted before getting braces. :)

Re: new tongue crib

Can I ask how the dentist diagnosed the tongue thrust? During one of my attempts to get my teeth fixed earlier in life, the dentist told me that it would be a waste of time to get braces because I have a tongue thrust. Granted, it was a Navy dentist on a ship, so he may have been grumpier than usual...

Congrats! It's always great to see people on the other end of the process (as I just started). Looking forward to seeing before/after pics.
