Re: Electric vs Manual brishes

I use both electric and manual. The electric probably once a day along with multiple power washes with the waterpik. I did stop with the electric for about a year after double jaw surgery.

Re: Fused premolar

Hi Little Tooth, I know I've had issues with teeth tipping and not moving. After obtaining a couple of second opinions; one of them pointed out that I had a power chain on top and not on the bottom The consult suggested adding a power chain to the bottom. My ortho listened to the suggestion and inst...

Re: Treatment persuaded others?

Two coworkers; although they are both pursuing invisalign and I have ceramic top and traditional lowers. Interestingly though; both are using regular dentist and not orthodontist. I did not even know that was a possibility. I'm not sure if I would ever consider someone who has not had extensive trai...

Good Morning ClarissaNoel, It's going to be challenging for you the first day but you can do it. I'll tell you from personal experience, you may start a new trend. I've had two new folks in my office start treatment since I've started. One of them told me it was because they thought if I could do it...

Re: Clicking bracket

Are you sure it's the bracket or is it the archwire that's actually clicking? I bet your archwire is not in all the way or has popped out. When I first had my braces applied; this would happen on my bottom right back molar. After two or three times of popping it back in; the ortho replaced the brack...

Re: Not sure of the next step to pursue surgery

Happy Holidays HoneyBee and Pierre, I agree with Pierre with regards to having a close time lag between bite mold and surgery. I would suggest having this time lag between the two as short as feasible. I say this because there was a 1 1/2 week lag between my surgery and my bite mold and my teeth had...

Re: After Jaw surgery do you have to continue your orthodontic treatment?

I was told that I would need six months of braces following surgery. It's going on two years soon. I would heed the experts advise. You're about to go through a pretty major surgery and you want your bite to be right. Appearance is one thing but bite is a whole different ball game.

Re: Not sure of the next step to pursue surgery

Hi Honey Bee, Unfortunately your teeth don't always cooperate in timelines that are given. Each patient is different and may go a little faster or a little slower. My timing lag between surgery and when it was estimated I would have the surgery was probably 3 to six months off. In regards to the ins...

Re: NEW member (in PAIN)

I second Dan's suggestion for taking the Tylenol. You can also alternate with Motrin. When I worked labor and delivery that is how we would medicate our postpartum patients. Just be careful with the Tylenol especially if you're feeling as though you're coming down with a cold and taking cold meds to...

Re: too much xrays in a short period of time?

Hey Wendy,
Depending on who you consult with; each one may not perform imaging. The two second opinions that I had only one took a pano. If the consult is complimentary, then highly unlikely you will have imaging done.

Re: Bite not cooperating - what problems could arise if I end treatment now?

Hi There- I am in the same boat with being 95% done and can't quite get to the finish line. I ended up getting a 2nd opinion from two ortho's (one I had to pay; one was complimentary) to get some clarity with the issue. I've come to accept that I'm not going to get everything on my wish list but I'l...

Re: New Member bound for Braces at 66

Hi Deliliahbear, Welcome to our fun little unique club!! In regards to the no straws; I know when I've had dental work it's sometimes to avoid displacing a clot that has formed over the surgical wound bed. This is especially important after wisdom teeth extractions to avoid dry sockets. This occurs ...

Re: ok, I've got options. Which way should I go?

Hi Wendy, Here's my two cents. You need a break from braces. De-brace, get your money, and run to the nearest airport for a nice vaca. Fast forward three months and get two more consults. Once you've debraced it will open up the playing field for all of the other ortho's who turned you away. I think...

Re: Ortho Recommendation for 2nd Opinion in DMV Region

Hi Assertives- he really is to put up with me because I'm not easy. Wendy, I believe I misunderstood your question in your last response. I now believe you were referring to ortho #1's recommendation for creating hooks within the TMA upper wire. This action was to take the pressure off of the canine...
