Re: Waterfloss woes

I use the ortho tip and just do it by feel by closing my lips around it to stop any mess and slowly run it back and forth along too and bottom stopping every ten seconds or so to spit out the water. Hold button to stop flow spit then put back in mouth and continue on. Pretty much impossible to do i...

Re: Going on 2 weeks with self ligating braces

What are molar builders?

I am at about the same point as you with self-ligating brackets. I had been grinding and clenching my teeth even before getting braces due to my bad bite, and still am. I do it more during the day than while sleeping, though.

Re: When did your numbness go away?

Do you ever get any tingling/crackling sensation running along your teeth or jaw? I've been told this is the nerves healing. I tend to get it once or twice a day and after 10 days since SARPE I've regained a lot of feeling in my lower lip and teeth and my upper teeth are starting to get less numb. ...

Re: Waterfloss woes

You are not the only one! I also end up making a huge mess with my Waterpic. The best way I've found to avoid that is to bend over the sink and just do it by feel, not trying to use a mirror. I just move the tip slowly around the outside of my teeth and then the inside and hope I'm doing a decent jo...

Thanks everyone for the replies. Really helpful. @Emily Travels, we are praying for the safety of all of you in the southeast. Thank you! Looks like we're going to be just fine in southern Mississippi but am very worried about friends in Florida. It's gonna get really rough. :( :( :( :( ...

Re: When did your numbness go away?

I don't know if this will help at all, but I had nerve damage in my lower left jawbone due to a jaw fracture/bike accident. My lower left teeth, inside of mouth, chin, and half my bottom lip was numb when it happened (April 21 of this year). Two months afterwards, still a lot of numbness and tinglin...

Re: Question about wires

Good to know! Within the last few days, most of the ends of my wires have started bothering me, so I guess this is a good sign! Using wax until my next appointment -- I can't get to the orthodontist now as he is in Florida, and we have evacuated from Hurricane Irma!

Re: Braces after Jaw Fracture at Age 56!

Did a blog post so I would never forget this first week in braces! http://travelingtwosome.weebly.com/traveling-twosome-blog/just-call-me-brace-face It really hasn't been as bad as I expected. I rather like my braces as I know they are doing me good and helping me reach my ultimate goal of getting b...

Re: Question about ceramic braces removal

I just got my braces this week, and I'm already worried about removal! Only because during the installation process, the ortho didn't like where one of the bottom brackets was placed, so the tech. had to take it off and place it again. When she tugged it off and filed away the glue, I thought it hur...

Re: Which Waterpik tip do you use?

Well, I have to say that this Waterpik thing is kinda messy! Glad I decided to try with plain water, as it gets all over the sink area, mirror, etc, and I wouldn't want mouthwash all over those surfaces. Any tips for neat Waterpiking?

Re: What type of floss do you use?

I use a regular floss. I'm loving Dr Tung's smart floss. That floss gets everything out! How do you get it under your wires? Or are in you in Invisalign? I have regular metal braces. I just thread it under my wires. I started out using the floss threaders, but I've kinda gotten the hang of getting ...

Re: Anyone else in Speed braces?

I ended up with an overnight elastic to correct my midline...from upper canine on the left to lower canine on the right. Quite the lisp with that one if I talked to anyone in the house after I put it in. Did the trick though. I had that same kind of elastic pattern in my pre-teen braces. Unfortunat...

Re: What type of floss do you use?

I accidentally bought a brand of flossers from Walgreen that would not fit under my wires, so I have now ordered a big quantity of P L A T Y P U S flossers, which I know work since my ortho gave me a few to start out with. I also have a Waterpik.
