Root resorption

I went to the dentist yesterday for a routine cleaning and check up, and the dentist noticed root resorption on the X-rays that were taken. Not all my teeth were affected, but those that were had about 1/3 of the root gone. She strongly advised me to talk to my orthodontist during my next visit (and...

Re: New to braces.... how quickly do they work?

I started seeing teeth movements within a month...the majority of my teeth have straightened by month 3. You will get used to the braces!

Re: Bends in my Wires

It’s for teeth movement that can’t be done with elastics and a straight archwire alone. The fine tuning stuff. I’ve had bends placed into my wires ever since I got placed into my “finishing wires” in January...my braces should be coming off “soon” per the tech at my last appointment, but I have no i...

Re: Will elastics work for an adult with overbite?

I started with an edge to edge bite and a crossbite...elastics have done wonders for my bite. I’m sure they’ll work for you too!

Re: Did your bite regress after elastics discontinued?

I wore class 3 elastics for 5 months, as well as night time box elastic to close an anterior open bite for 3 months...and so far I haven’t noticed my bite regress in the 7 months that I’ve been without those specific elastics.

Re: Solving this mess - what would you opt for?

Another option might be to speak with a therapist about the whole thing -- and not about orthodontic options, but about how to handle the situation in a way that makes a good outcome more likely -- especially the communication patterns. Not suggesting that you are mentally ill, but you've been thro...

Re: Solving this mess - what would you opt for?

I’ve followed your posts here, and at this point, I think it may be more beneficial for you to end your treatment with your current orthodontist, de-brace, and to start new with another orthodontist. There’s just a lot of anger, mistrust and resentment towards your orthodontist and your treatment, a...

• Why did you initially get braces/what was your issue?
• How long until your teeth began looking straight?
• Did you get any surgery/appliances?

Thanks!
1) My reason is to straighten my teeth. My orthodontist says I have crossbite and an edge to edge bite.
2) Like 3-4 months
3) No

Re: Self-Ligating Brackets with O-Ring Ligs

I think this is something that you should ask your orthodontist. I haven’t seen ligatures on self ligating brackets, and I haven’t heard of anyone with a mix of self ligating and traditional braces.

Re: Self-Ligating Brackets with O-Ring Ligs

Self lighting brackets will not have ligatures. Ligatures are used in non self ligating braces to hold the wire in place. Self lighting braces are able to hold the wire in place without the help of ligatures.

Perhaps you have powerchains?

Re: Day 3 with fast braces and an expander

When I first got braces, I had a lisp too. I think it’s just all part of the braces process. It does get better! Just keep talking and soon the lisp will go away...I got over mine real quick as I’m a nurse and I spend my work day doing a lot of taking.

Re: I Want My Braces Off Early

You’d just ask the orthodontist to release you as a patient. You (or your parents) probably would have to sign a waiver that basically says you understand that the treatment isn’t completed and you are choosing to terminate early, and that any and all consequences from this action will not be held a...

One year of braces

I had braces applied one year ago, and the progress have been amazing. Totally worth it!

Re: Early Braces Removal (Fully Corrected) / Refund?

I don’t think so. You’re charged for the service of having an orthodontist correcting your teeth, not the length of treatment.
