Re: My Introduction

Hmm- I don't know if braces causes bleeding gums? Maybe the moving of your teeth is making them that much more irritated when you floss? Just a thought- I honestly don't know. I do know I had a tooth that would seem to bleed for no reason when I brushed it. I just figured a bristle would poke the gu...

Re: The pain is getting a bit ridiculous...

Dentist not in on Fri/Sat/Sun. I have an appointment on Monday morning. I think I can get through today and tomorrow. It's not so bad right now after 400 motrin and a tylenol. I don't see anything oozing out, no bad taste, but I've narrowed it down to the tooth next to the hole- the canine. It's ver...

Re: My Introduction

Hi lemonhead! Sorry that you're going through all this. Although I don't have the same issues as you regarding the fluoride, I totally wrecked alot of my teeth during my teen years. It was THE coolest to chew bubblegum while in school! I have at least one filling in all my molars and two root canals...

The pain is getting a bit ridiculous...

So here it is, 3:51 am eastern time and I'm wide awake- so what better to do than cry to someone (hubby is at work and kids are sleeping...I'm all alone lol). I woke up in the most pain I've ever been in. This includes labor contractions, I kid you not. I had 2 top premolar extractions on Monday. Le...

Re: Brace day tomorrow

Second and third everything suggested! Cold water really does help. The Colgate mouthwash is called Peroxyl and it works. I only had a couple rub spots and between that and wax for a couple days, my cheeks were pretty tough and no longer sore. The biggest thing for me when I first got them on was th...

Re: Extraction of bicuspids and benefits on the profile

OMG. I am hurting so much. Not from the extraction sites, but the braced teeth are seriously throbbing!!! :-(( I can't bite anything. Not looking forward to Monday when I get the bottoms done. Motrin takes the pain away for a bit, but it comes back long before it's time to take more :( :(. I just ke...

Re: Extraction of bicuspids and benefits on the profile

Top 2 bicuspids gone today! Most of the pain was when the novocaine started wearing off- feeling ok now. 2 bottoms next Monday and then the fun really starts I guess. Ortho used the "official" term bimaxillary protrusion today lol. He usually talks to me in layman's terms. I just call it "teeth that...

Re: Newbie start June 6

Congrats!! I had traditional metal braces placed 3 weeks ago. The guys and gals on this board are super helpful. No question too dumb (or if it is- they are nice enough not to say so) 8)

Re: Extraction of bicuspids and benefits on the profile

That's pretty much exactly what my ortho told me would happen once the teeth are out and we start with elastics! :P

Re: Loose teeth after flossing?

I have this weird paranoia that all my teeth are just gonna fall out while I have these braces. My front teeth are really aching again since last night. Pain usually leads to me to believe that something is wrong and I did something to cause it. I guess in this case I did cause it- by flossing lol. ...

Re: Extraction of bicuspids and benefits on the profile

Yes- braces are on! Well, on the front 6 top and bottom. I will get the back ones attacehed after the extractions. I actually don't have a retruded mandible. I have to pull it back a bit so the back teeth hit where they are supposed to. The top is the part messing everything up lol. I wasn't a thumb...

Loose teeth after flossing?

Is this weird? I finally flossed normally tonight. I am almost 2 full weeks in braces. I have been doing the waterpik only at night before brushing. Now I feel like I may have moved some teeth or maybe the brackets? I know that's most likely not possible, but that's how it feels.
