Re: Teeth still hurt

If you can knock the pain down with OTC pain relievers it sounds pretty normal to me. While I can eat pretty normally now, in the beginning I learned be creative with smoothies. It's amazing what you can put in a blender. I thrown an Oreo into just about everything I blend. :-) If you are trying to ...

Re: Little help please *

You're really overthinking this. As for all your problems I would definitely see your dentist first. Often your dentist and ortho will work together for the best outcome. As for payment, I was given a lot of choices. The cheapest was to pay in cash for a discount. He also offered a payment plan with...

Re: Painful Adjustments?

Take some ibuprofen. I had my adjustment today and when they change that power chain I also feel like they are pulling my teeth out. Ouch! Also hurts when they open and close the doors on my self-legating brackets. I'm pretty sure this is all normal as nobody says anything when I'm jumping out of th...

Why do they tell you not to eat nuts?

I asked my ortho today and he says he never tells his patients not to eat nuts. Still, everything I read about what you can and can't eat with braces says not to eat nuts.

Re: I don't like my braces

We've all been there. Yes, when I got my braces the first thing I thought was, Why the heck did I do this? Now the only time I think about it is when an elastic breaks. BTW, very few people notice, and those who do don't care.

It does get better and you won't starve. I used a lot of dental wax the first month and haven't used any since.

Re: Anyone else with a huge front gap, overbite and overjet

I have some gaps on my front teeth and didn't really notice them closing up till the ortho put power chains on. I asked "When are these gaps going to close up?" and he replied with power chains.

Re: My 1st tightening

I'm going on 8 months now, and most adjustments have been a non event. I will say that installing or changing power chains makes you feel like your teeth are going to pop out of your head, but they don't. Still, it's the power chains that really make a different when it comes to closing gaps so the ...

Re: Mouth Soreness

Ibuprophen worked for me. ACT makes a mouthwash for braces that also helped, and if your teeth get real sensitive to brushing Sensodyne really helps. There are a lot of things that help in the dental isle of your supermarket or drugstore, but after awhile you won't need much. You just get used to it.

I think every time they stick something new in your mouth THAT'S the worst thing.

Ask your ortho, but I think most people favor one side braces or not.

Re: What reactions have you had about your braces?

My girlfriend doesn't care and nobody says anything. I'm actually kinda disappointed. Maybe it's because I just smile and laugh as usual and don't try to hide them.

Re: Newly braced and have a couple of questions.

Never seen Plackers before, but I have the same flossers in a different brand and they work pretty good. That said, the Waterpik is amazing. I got one when I got my braces and you wouldn't believe the stuff that comes flying out of my mouth even after brushing and flossing.

Re: Having regrets i think? NSFW (Yellow teeth)

When I got my braces I started to lose weight, which is good for me. I'm hoping to lose a bit more, and people are telling me my face looks thinner. I don't see it in the mirror, but I think not being able to eat all the things I usually ate is having an effect on me. I feel pretty confident everyth...

Re: so depressed

Most orthodontists have a plan. I complained about some spaces and he said he may have to leave a little room so my dentist can do some cosmetic work later. Both my dentist and ortho are good friends, and even went to lunch to discuss my case before I started, but I was hoping I could avoid anything...
