Re: Teeth wearing down

I got braces because my teeth were wearing down. My bottom front teeth were hitting the back of my top front teeth and now look like chisels. Just got my braces off last week and those teeth don't touch anymore. I plan on having a little work done on those teeth, but I'm really happy they are no lon...

Re: What are these?

Most people who get braces would hit their lower front brackets with their upper front teeth. Those buildups prevent that from happening.

Re: Tooth paste ?

Just brush the way you normally would. Feel your way around instead of opening your mouth to see what you are doing. The only thing the ortho told me was to not use a "whitening" toothpaste. I thought for sure when the brackets came off (last week) there would be marks where the brackets were but ev...

Re: Please help - do you honestly wear your full-time elastics all the time?

I "tried" to wear my elastics all the time but it was impossible. I'd go out to eat, take my elastics out or swallow them, and realized it was just too much trouble to put them back in before I got home. I'm no ortho, but I truly believe that if you slip up now and then your treatment won't suffer. ...

Re: No improvement after 2 years in braces

I would definitely bring your concerns to your ortho, but in my case I felt my gaps were never going to close up, then, towards the end of my treatment things started to move a lot.

Re: bite turbo lisp: where does my tongue go for s sound?

Somehow you'll adjust to it. I don't know how, but I did. Right now I'm dealing with retainers that are causing a huge lisp. It's getting better. That said, the voice control on my Xfinity remote and Siri don't understand me. :(

Re: Missing a bracket and the wire slices your cheek?

Congratulations on your brilliant solution. I would have used some dental wax and called the ortho to fix it. Just got my braces off, but before that dental wax and Motrin, were my best friends.

Re: Braces off! Clear retainers on.

Not sure if I'm the oldest person on this forum, but I was definitely the oldest person in the orthodontist's office. My two best friends during this adventure were Motrin and Dental Wax. One thing that surprised me was hardly anybody noticed when I got my braces, and nobody's noticed that I got the...

Braces off! Clear retainers on.

So, last week I got my braces off and today got my clear retainers. They took an impression for the retainers when the brackets came off and in the past week my teeth had moved enough that putting those retainers on was quite painful and difficult. My instructions are to keep the retainers on full t...

If you have trouble getting your elastics on and off Amazon has a tool called Elastic Placers. Helped me a lot.

Re: Help!!! (Should I call my Ortho after hours?)

I've had trouble with hooks, brackets and rubber bands. No need to panic and I seriously doubt any of your problems will set you back. "In the beginning" I used a pair of very thin needle nose pliers to put rubber bands on. I then started using these plastic tools I got on Amazon, elastic placers, a...

Re: Molars more painful than the front few teeth after wire changed

Every time I got new wires I had pain of some kind, not bad, in a different part of my mouth depending on what my ortho was trying to accomplish. Normal for me and I'm sure for a lot of others here.

Re: They're on! How do I eat...?

I went through the same thing. I was drinking only smoothies the first couple of days, but then somehow figured out how to eat just about everything. IMHO the buildups were the worst part of my treatment, but somehow my body figured out how to get around it. Your's will, too.

Re: Rubber Bands not hurting, are they working?

I've had rubber bands for the last six months. No pain at all, except where the bands sometimes pinch the inside of my cheek. Putting them on and taking them off is a "pain."
