Re: Face flip flopped

The swelling IS "insanely uneven" as you put it. It's very common that the top swells more than the bottom. Look at the post-surgery pictures on people's blogs. Everyone always says "Oh, they didn't move my chin forward enough. It looks like I have a ridiculous overbite. I'm gonna talk to my surgeon...

Re: Face flip flopped

Jinx, how long ago was your surgery? Did you guys not get to see any surgical plan before or pictures/simulations of what you'd look like afterwards? Not to be offensive, but you both sound like you had no idea what the outcome would be.. Was it that, were the pictures misleading, or was the impleme...

Jamie - Ok, I'll have to go look for it. Maybe grab some Framboise while I'm at it :) Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! So the surgery is basically a huge b-day present from your insurance company, right?

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

I'm so going to buy cookies and milk and make a "shake" haha. I'll be the one person who has jaw surgery and gains weight :-* Oooo that sounds delicious :D My surgeon told me last week that most people lose 10-15 lbs after the surgery and told me I should try and put on some weight before the surge...

Hmmm... I wonder if Whole Foods or something carries it. It'd be in the tea section?

jaime wrote:I picked up some Smooth Move tea on the weekend as I saw it recommended on a blog. It's supposed to help with constipation, which was definitely a problem after my last surgery.
Where'd you find that? Online?

Re: I want a piece of information about orthognathic surgery

The outcome is going to be the same regardless of piezoelectric osteotomy and stem cell injections. And chances are, that outcome is going to be great! Just find a qualified surgeon you trust and you should be fine!

Re: I want a piece of information about orthognathic surgery

Be tough!!! I can't imagine anybody would do stem cell injections for this procedure and the healing time probably won't be much reduced by piezoelectric osteotomy alone. The osteogenesis still has to occur and that takes time. Just be brave, buckle down, and it'll be over before you know it! :)

Re: I want a piece of information about orthognathic surgery

There is less damage done to the soft tissues, supposedly, with the piezoelectric osteotomy. That can results in decreased healing time, less pain, etc. I'm not sure of any effects regarding the movement of the nerves in the jaw, whether it makes them easier or harder to deal with, etc. From this an...

"Possible", sure. I highly doubt anyone does it, though. But that doesn't mean you should end your investigation here! If you find out otherwise, please let us know! I'm sure other people would be interested as well.
