Re: Hello I am new

Hi Lisa! Welcome! You won't regret your decision to get braces - even as you head towards 60. :) My theory about making changes in my life: Next year I will be 60 anyway - I might as well have straight teeth too. :) The time will speed by - in pieces. I'm often obsessed with my teeth and I take a to...

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

Hi Lisa! Its nice to meet you! I'm almost done. I have one last adjustment appointment in June and then debracing mid July! I'm super excited. My elastics have been a bummer to wear again after a 3 month break but they seem to be doing their magic - my bite is FINALLY feeling good. How are y...

Re: 57 and braces again

I'm super happy for you! Congrats on your May de-brace date! That's awesome! I'm getting a lower behind the teeth permanent retainer and a sometimes he mentions doing that on the top front teeth too. I'm hoping not - as I really will be a good retainer wearer. Your smile looks great - I'm looking fo...

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

Thanks! I'm super excited. However, the excitement is dulled slightly as this adjustment has been a challenge because of the elastics. I now have a new pattern of elastics and they are rubbing a sore into my inner cheek. I called the office and they wanted to see if they could make an adjustment so ...

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

Update: I had an adjustment and evaluation appointment. A lot of time was spent with the orthodontist as he checked over everything very carefully. Today, my stainless wires were adjusted slightly with a reverse bend as he is working on shifting my lower front teeth slightly, to give them a bit of s...

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

Spacers out. Band re-fitted and glued on the root canal/crowned upper right #3 (to a dentist) Xrays - showed everything looks good except the roots on a front, lower tooth that isn't quite moving into place because of crowding. A bit of a concern crossed my ortho's face. On the bottom: Stainless - A...

Re: "Go To" Meals After Bracing, Adjustment, or Extractions

Ice cream. Root beer floats. Soups. I figure if I have soups on those days that I'm hurting from recent adjustments, I can splurge on root beer floats. And I've still lost 20 pounds.

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

I got my upper spacers put back yesterday - around my root canal/crowned tooth - in order to band that tooth and get it back in line with the rest of my teeth as we finish up. Its sore. A part of me knows this is regular spacer pain. The skeptical me wonders if the pain and discomfort I'm feeling is...

Thinking of Retainers - Traditional, Permanent or Invisalign?

I am still 6 months away from getting my braces off and getting retainers but I'm thinking about it. All this time I have been thinking about what the ortho told me at the beginning of this process: Permanent retainer on the bottom, traditional on top. However, my dental hygienist suggested I not al...

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

Time for an update - as my next appointment is still 4 weeks away. During the last 4 weeks - my teeth have been doing some more slight moving into place. They are looking better and better and more importantly - FEEL better and better. My bite has felt off all this time and it now is feeling like it...

Center Front teeth not aligned with bottom

I just noticed - the center line of my top teeth are not aligned anymore with the center line on the bottom teeth. Is this typical? They started out aligned - and now, one year later - they are off by quite a bit!

Typical? Did this happen to you? Is this easy to fix?

Re: Teeth ramps/bumpers - Are you annoyed with them too?

This is still a struggle for me. I've almost been in braces now a year and my molar ramps (bumpers) are just as annoying today. They added more to my ramps a few months ago - and that was helpful at the time. I felt more level. NOW I feel some of my teeth touching finally but the ramps feel too tall...

Re: Deep bite but just fix top front teeth crookedness? (due to complexity)

Have you gotten more than one opinion from another orthodontist? What one ortho says is complex may not be a big deal to another one. I didn't think mine was complex but I've had some set-backs that turned my treatment complex - but not once did my orthodontist miss a beat. Although you get a good "...

Re: Carriere, Lingual Arch, Ceramic Braces at 58

Today - a day later and my upper left teeth are sore - Taking ibuprofen - and I already have a pokey wire in the back. I have some wax wadded up back there - and will try to hang on until Thursday. Then I'll head over and get it snipped. Its evidence, dear Sherlock or Watson, that the teeth are movi...

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.

I drink iced tea every day. Otherwise, I'm not so bad about eating naughty things - I'm basically lazy. If the food is too much work to clean up from my braces and my teeth, I can walk on by. I don't floss often - I do water pick twice a day and LOVE it. I will only brush twice a day (morning and ni...
