Re: Underbite & crossbite correct w/Damon, IPR, Acceledent etc

The jury is still out on my jaw/crowned tooth. My jaw pain is definitely less, thankfully, but still there--especially later at night and in the morning. My newly crowned tooth has the same old sharp pain when chewing on it if I get it in exactly the right spot with the right hardness of food. Not e...

Re: Jaw surgery ...long post

The best thing you can do at this point is get more consultations. You can't make a decision based on one professional opinion, alone. Good luck!

Re: Craze lines - I hope - and I don't know if its new or not

I got my braces off a bit over a week ago and one of the first things I noticed were big cracks across some of my teeth, especially an upper canine. I freaked out at first but then, like you, read about craze lines. Since my teeth have been seen very closely by two different dentists and my ortho st...

Re: How do you find an inexpensive orthodontist?

Yes quality matters over cost. Even if an ortho is qualified on paper it doesn't mean they're any good or will treat you well. Also, the tech usually does most of the work, anyway, it seems, so you are relying on the staff and not just the ortho. I would definitely NOT go with the cheapest option. I...

Re: When did you stop wearing elastics?

I was given class 3 elastics during my second month of treatment and wore them religiously for about 7 months (at 3 increasing strengths). They wanted to give me even stronger elastics then but they were over-correcting way too much so I didn't have to wear any elastics at all for the last 6 or 7 mo...

Re: Underbite & crossbite correct w/Damon, IPR, Acceledent etc

I'm checking in to share my continuing post-braces/-crown jaw pain. It's been over a week since I got my crown placed and braces removed and my jaw is definitely better but still hurts. It actually feels better with the retainers in, now, so when I take them out it starts to hurt right away. I'm alm...

Re: Underbite & crossbite correct w/Damon, IPR, Acceledent etc

Had not heard about the debanding, debracing pain. :( Oh no! I'm hoping you feel better soon and dreading - now - that moment! I know,I hadn't heard about it either! The actual bracket removal wasn't too bad (although some brackets felt like they were holding on for dear life and wanted to take my ...

Re: Underbite & crossbite correct w/Damon, IPR, Acceledent etc

I will post pictures eventually! Definitely after I get the bonding done. I've started whitening so hopefully that will go quickly and I can get the bonding. My teeth seem fairly white right now BUT they are dreadfully NOT white in the super high res photos the ortho took Thursday! We were comparing...

Re: Sore teeth with retainers

Urgh. well, retainer pain is better than "I need a root canal" pain, so I'll take it! I had no idea retainers could hurt right after debanding! Except for the obvious gum irritations. I thought retainers only hurt when you haven't worn them for a long time and your teeth have moved. The fun of brace...

Sore teeth with retainers

Is it normal for teeth to feel sore right after debanding while in Essix retainers? I got my top braces off last week and my bottom braces off two days ago and got both retainers yesterday. My teeth are sore now, mainly on the bottom. When I take the retainers off there is some relief but I'm contin...

Re: tartar - stressed

Floss is your friend until you can get a cleaning. 10 days isn't going to hurt your dental health as long as you clean very well throughout. You can also ask at your ortho office if they can scrape your bottom teeth during your adjustments. Not all are willing to do this but my ortho tech did it for...

Re: I think my orthodontist told me to wear my elastics wrong?

Perhaps they want to give you some overjet since you say you don't have any? If you had class 2 elastics that would just make your lack of overjet worse

Re: Invisalign with fake teeth and want to drink w/o taking out tray

I think it depends on the kind of alcohol. If there's a lot of sugar in it you're not going to want to do that. Like mixed drinks, beer, etc. if it's straight vodka or something you might be ok to do that occassionally? Are you more worried about your teeth or the trays?

Re: how many teeth show when you smile?

I only showed a few teeth before braces (probably 6?) and now I just got my braces off and definitely show 8 on top, almost 10 (so my new gold crown on my second molar on bottom is a bit visible!!...). That makes it sound like I have a gigantic smile but I don't. I still have "gaps" at the edges of ...

Re: Deband soon!

I am 100% braces free! My crown ended up fitting really well, fortunately. I have permanent retainers on top and bottom and I just got my top Essix. I get my bottom Essix tomorrow.

I have to wear the Essix retainers 16 hr/day and the permanents for at least a year.
