Re: Seriously, no one notices!!!!

Congratulations, you must be so happy!! Are you pleased with your results? It sucks that no one really noticed, but you make a great point that ultimately, no one notices or cares when you DO have them! Very reassuring :) -MM Yes, I'm very happy with my results! This week I started pointing out my ...

Re: Seriously, no one notices!!!!

Most people are too polite to comment on other peoples teeth. (unless you got a piece of broccoli stuck in them.) So true, but some people won't even do that! One of my most embarrassing memories is getting home from a cookout (3 or 4 hours after eating) and looking in the mirror to see a big piece...

Re: The Professor's Story of Braces at 40 (with pics)

Yay Professor! Such a beautiful result and amazing transformation! Isn't it the best thing to not have food left in your mouth after eating? Some small pieces might get caught in the fixed retainer, but it's nothing compared to braces and needing a water flosser! Lol Congratulations! Enjoy your new...

The gap definitely looks smaller :) Don't worry too much about wire sizes--my bottom teeth needed a lot of movement and it felt like I was in really thin wires forever, but eventually those teeth straightened out and then I went up in wire sizes pretty quickly.

Seriously, no one notices!!!!

After 25 months with braces, I finally got them removed yesterday morning (yay for me!!!) I went to work with a big smile and waited for someone to make a comment about my new look. I talked to a few colleagues, had lunch with another, and then dinner with some friends before going to a performance o...

Re: The Professor's Story of Braces at 40 (with pics)

Wow! I can't believe no one notices! It goes to show how little others pay attention, with the bulky braces and even with a brand new wonderful smile! I can't wait until my turn! They had to have noticed, but these were the same friends who never acknowledged that I had braces! I was in seclusion i...

Re: The Professor's Story of Braces at 40 (with pics)

what a transformation!! you must be very happy!! :jokerlaugh: how was the debracing and filing your teeth at the same day? do you feel any sensitivity? My teeth feel fine this evening, so no sensitivity issues. I've never really had sensitive teeth so I guess that was in my favor today. The filing ...

Thanks for the complement! My teeth were so crazy looking my whole life, but it is amazing what a little shaping at the end did!

Re: The Professor's Story of Braces at 40 (with pics)

Hi Gang, Thanks for all of your kind comments--no one said anything about my naked teeth at work today and at lunch and dinner with friends! We'll see if the students in my class tomorrow say anything (they should definitely notice since they stare at me every Tuesday and Thursday for 75 minutes whi...

Re: The Professor's Story of Braces at 40 (with pics)

Free at last!!! It was weird to see my teeth without braces, but I'm happy with the result! I'll post a more detailed account of the removal process later this evening.

Here is a preview pic (not at the best angle) taken as soon as I left the ortho about an hour ago:

I'm just looking forward to being able to bite into food without having it stuck everywhere on my front teeth! I might go for a big burger with lots of toppings :)
