Re: SARPE

Hi Natalie! I had SARPE in December. Your question is a broad one...there was a lot to say!! I actually blogged my way through it and I was pretty detailed. My blog link is in my signature and you can select the "sarpe" label on the right hand side. Do you have any specific questions? I'd be happy t...

Re: Progress, 2.5 months

Amazing progress! This makes me excited to see how my own bottom teeth straighten out after a month or two.

Also, I love the teal and pink! I don't think my ortho has teal unfortunately.

Re: Is my palate VERY narrow? -anyone else with a narrow pal

I think your arch looks fine. It looks like it has a U-shape to it. :) Do you really think my arch has a U shape and not a V shape? Anymore opinions? It looks very much like a U to me! I am hoping my upper jaw will look like yours after a few months in braces, I'm still rocking the V post-SARPE.

Re: Thank goodness for microwaves

My food sometimes gets cooler just because it takes forever to cut certain things into bite size pieces. (Saves me the hassle of getting too much stuff stuck in my braces). Usually it's pastas, especially spaghetti. It takes forever to chop up. But for the most part I thank microwaves for making cr...

Re: Thank goodness for microwaves

   I have to leave my house at 12:15 to get to work on time, so this morning I fixed breakfast/lunch at 11:30 figuring I would have plenty of time. HAHA! Big joke! lol. I left the house at 12:25 ;) Uh oh! I've been later getting to work lately too, especially after my lunch breaks (I...

Thank goodness for microwaves

I had to heat up my dinner 3 times and I didn't even finish it by the time it got cold again. Oh well, hot food is overrated anyway, am I right?

Re: My Story, Braces at 28

I just noticed I said I'm 25, I meant 28! :gavel:

I'm surprised you haven't had any pain. I had general soreness only for about 48 hours, so if you're past that, it'll be interesting to see if you get any pain! Keep us updated, haha.

Re: Extractions!

I didn't realize people got extractions done after the braces were on. My ortho hasn't mentioned extractions lately so I just assumed I was out of the woods. Now I'm a little worried. Glad to hear it all went well, though. Being put under is kinda nice, isn't it? I got put under for SARPE obviously....

Re: My Story, Braces at 28

Welcome to the boards! Our stories are very similar! I'm also 25, have crowding, overjet, and did 5 consultations. I was like you, I wanted to keep all my teeth if possible. Congrats on getting braced, I look forward to seeing your progress!

Re: Taking a LOT of ibuprofen - will it impact my treatment?

I don't have any advice about how it impacts tooth movement, I just wanted to say that nothing helped me the first and second days either. After I got home from work, I ended up taking a percocet I had left over from SARPE. It didn't make the pain go away, it just made me not care. So don't be too c...

Let me know if you have any questions about low carb! There's a ton of stuff on Reddit, too. r/xxketo is great, I like it better than the larger r/keto sub.

Re: Are your braces a topic of conversation?

[quote="sim"] Actually I'm glad that most people don't ask me why I am having them. It's nearly as if you have to justify yourself about wearing them, especailly to people who never needed them, for that are mostly the people who think it's not neccesary.[quote] It is really strange, isn't it? I thi...

Re: SARPE + braces + triple jaw surgery blog

Personally, I think your teeth look great! If I woke up tomorrow and had your teeth, I would be thrilled! Your arch looks normal to me, I would never think it's narrow. It looks like everything aligns nicely with your lower teeth, at least from the photos you posted. I know you want to feel confiden...

Re: Can't fix agonising decayed tooth until I hear from Orth

That does not sound fun at all! It sounds like we have similar problems. My molars are so worn down from my bite. I ended up breaking one of them in 2012 and needed a ceramic onlay: $950. Then in April, I had a cavity filled on another molar and it got infected so I needed a root canal (another $100...

Re: SARPE + braces + triple jaw surgery blog

The purpose of SARPE is to widen the upper jaw. I think if it resolves a crossbite due to a narrow palate, that's one thing, but the widening didn't change that for me. I looked at your post...your teeth and midline is looking so great, you must be so happy with that progress. You have really nice l...
