Don't worry about being 19 with braces...you are probably one of the younger people on these boards!

Do prepare for people to think you're much younger, though. I'm 28 and people keep thinking I'm 18-21 years old or so.

I'm a month into braces so I'm still more or less good, but I don't floss everyday. If I'm tired or it's really late, I don't bother.

Also, I'm eating Sour Patch Kids right now. It's 8:30am.

I have tight contacts between my teeth and so far, Oral-B Complete Satin floss has worked for me.

Rinse - brush - floss - Waterpik - mouthwash

I think I'm opposite everyone else! I don't own a Waterpik yet but that's the order I do it when I'm at my boyfriend's (he owns one). At home, it's the same, just no Waterpik.

Personally, I'd just go ahead and do it, but I'm also the one who had SARPE right before Christmas (thus missing out on about 6-7 dinners).

Saving money is also totally a bonus if that's a concern for you. Waiting sucks, but it's important not to go broke for straight teeth.

I went for consultations in November and got braced in May after what felt like forever! However, I had to get SARPE before braces.

Just got back from seeing my dental surgeon! He said everything looks great after my SARPE, which was 6 months ago today. I asked about my upper teeth still being tender and was told it's normal. My second surgery (upper + lower jaw surgery with genioplasty) is now tentatively set for June 11, 2015....
