Jaime congrats on being officially done!! I believe you about the twitching tooth thing. I wonder if your ortho can adjust your retainer a little.

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies
I don't think they would have stayed where they were if we took the braces off a while ago; even with retainers. As much as they're moving now, I think they're getting into the places they want to be instead of where they're forced into... A lot more of a "natural" position.

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies
I still have braces... After freaking upper wire broke in March; we removed the upper brackets; the remaining original ceramics (2 or 3 of them, the others had cracked and were previously replaced) and started with a round NiTi wire again... It was probably better that it happened. Instead of trying...

You won't pull anything loose wearing elastics.

Re: Reversing the retraction of teeth without implants?
Surgery will do that. I don't think pulling the entire palate forward would have a positive result.

Re: Can't tell if I'm clenching or if my jaw is just wired that tightly shut
After my surgery my muscles were so weak and sore; I had a hard time chewing after 4 weeks. So I doubt you can put enough pressure on things to change your recovery.

Re: Can you get SARPE after a lefort 1 or do they need to be done at the same time?
They are typically two different procedures. But, your surgeon could do a multipiece LeForte and get some expansion. I forget what the limits are for a 3 piece LeForte vs 1 piece vs SARPE. SARPE is usually done first; towards the beginning of treatment; even before braces. Then single/double jaw sur...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies
I heard a familiar noise from my mouth on Sunday; a very quiet "click." My upper archwire that's been tweaked, bent, formed, adjusted, bent, shaped, bent and positioned over the last 2.5 years broke. Yes broke. :( Over the last couple days the problem area that we've been working on the last several...

Re: Spacers and quad helix
Sorry, the spacers will hurt. The good news is they'll hurt more than braces will. I had the quad helix. The expansion itself didn't hurt at all. BUT, your tongue will be very sore for about a week. Day 3 was bad but got better after that. I'm not sure if I retained as much of the expansion as I wou...

Re: Cost of replacing power chains?
Soooo, you're not going to see your orthodontist for 6 months? Did I read that right?
And you're worried about your powerchain staining?

Re: Can you feel your hardware?
I don't love it but I think I can live with it. I'm not sure if a repeat surgery would be worth it; more numbness and all the possible bad outcomes. If I was in my 20's I think it would be more of an option. The only problem area I still have is the left side of my chin. When I touch the area I can ...

Re: Can you feel your hardware?
We've talked about it before; but yes I can feel mine. The plates on both sides of my nostrils where they join my cheeks and the two plates (with screws) in my chin. I can't feel the plate in my lower jaw and my surgeon removed the other 3 screws when 1 started to put pressure on the tissue near my ...

Re: Fixed retainer on front of teeth?
I won't say no, but probably not. Why would you want a stainless wire cemented to the front of your teeth?

Re: Plate removal
Yes I have 2, 3 hole plates on either side; from when they did the sliding chin thing... probably only 7-10 mm in total length, so not huge but I can feel them when I press.
