Re: My journey (expander, then braces)

Bit of an update in case anyone was curious... I've been dealing with some pain. My expander actually has started to jab into my cheek. At first, it wasn't too big of a deal and I thought I could just "tough it out," since I'd hate to bother my orthodontist. But yesterday I gave in because the pain ...

Re: CANNOT wait to be braced! :)

Hello, and welcome! :) I currently have a palatal expander in right now. The first few days/first week might be really rough, but stick with it. You are really brave to get one on before Thanksgiving! lol. I know I couldn't have done that. Good luck with your journey! I really hope yours works exact...

Re: New and I don't know what to do!

Featheryy1221, how old are you? Like I said, I've only done 6 turns but it hads made room in the back so far, I can tell when I floss. I just got my new expander today and it's way bulkier than the last one (seems to fit better so far) so I'm talking pretty funny and I can't touch my teeth together...

Re: New and I don't know what to do!

I don't have a removable expander, but I do have a bonded expander, so I know what you're going through. :) At first I hated having an expander and broke down crying in the beginning because I couldn't pronounce anything and could barely eat anything at all. But after a few days, I got used to it. I...

Re: My journey (expander, then braces)

So I had my orthodontic appointment today. It was pretty dead in the office, it was just me and one assistant orthodontist. She took me in and had a look at my expander. And guess what? I WAS RIGHT! IT'S WORKING! That's right! My palatal expander is working! YAY!!!!! :-* She said something...

Re: My journey (expander, then braces)

Little bit of an update: my teeth are fairly sore today. :( Which is kind of annoying. I've had to stick with softer foods. I've been noticing too that it seems like my face is changing. Like I feel like when I grin now, I have chipmunk cheeks. haha. This makes me wonder how different my entire face...

Re: My journey (expander, then braces)

wow your teeth looks very white :) good luck Thank you, headbanggg. :) I think my camera and the lighting when I took that photo made my teeth look a lot whiter than they really are in real life. Good luck! I hope the expander will work so that you don't need surgery. I don't think your cross...

Re: Changing method of treatment? What would you do?

I definitely think it's a good plan to at least talk to your ortho and see if you can change your mind. The last thing you want is to be miserable all the time. Especially if you're going to have braces for a while.

Re: My journey (expander, then braces)

Good luck to you! You already have a beautiful smile, and it's going to be fabulous once you're done. I hope that the expander works exactly as you hope it will. Yes, hopefully it works out well. Thank you, Norrie! :D I noticed from your ticker that you're early on in your treatment, so good luck t...

Re: My journey (expander, then braces)

Well I'm two weeks into this, so I figured I'd update. :) The first couple days were super rough. I couldn't pronounce anything with the "e," "y," "k," "t," "s," "ch," sound. I couldn't say the word "you" at all. It was pretty embarrassing, but as promised after around day 6/7, I could finally prono...
