Re: I need your advice guys before starting treatment.(19/9

What are the "rings" he's talking about? I know some people on here have had their crossbite fixed with braces alone. But they've said that their bite isn't going to be 'textbook perfect.' Is that what your orthodontist's plan is? Also as far as retainers go, even if you got removable retainers, you...

Re: Extraction Orthodontic Nightmare

When my sister was 13, she got four teeth extracted about 20 years ago from my orthodontist (I ended up choosing the ortho she went to). In her case it worked out great. Her face is still proportionate and her smile turned out amazing. There was no harm done. Yes, she was young to get that done, but...

Re: CANNOT wait to be braced! :)

I guessing that they probably didn't take the expander out today because from what I understand expanders have to stay on for a while after turning so that the bone can grow in the space that you did end up getting. I know I have to wait four months with mine. That's really a bummer that it didn't w...

Re: Question for anyone that had a palatal expander in

Well, he didn't exactly say it, he just gave me a paper about palatal expanders and on the paper it said it usually takes about four months for the bone to regenerate. I guess it's just weird because some people will say they only have their expander in for three months. And I saw one person that wa...

Question for anyone that had a palatal expander in

How long did you have to have your palatal expander in once you were done turning it? I turned mine for 2 months and I was told by my orthodontist that it'll take 4 months for it to "set." I'm 1 month down, so 3 more to go, but I'm growing really tired of this thing being in my mouth and I'm worried...

Re: I want that near perfect smile :(

I know how it feels to be in college and see everyone who has pretty, straight teeth. It's hard, especially when it's something you always wanted. But I really think your teeth look wonderful. :D I hope when I get done with my treatment that mine look just as good as yours. I bet if you saw some of ...

Re: My journey (expander, then braces)

I'm not able to see the pics you posted, so I was wondering, did you get the gap between your teeth? I am 40 and had the expander placed on December 3, and 20 turns later I have a great gap!! I saw the ortho today, and to my surprise they placed both upper and lower braces. I dont think they really...

Re: My journey (expander, then braces)

Wow! What a difference! :) Thanks! Hi: I too had my palatal (bonded) expander put in about 4 weeks ago. I experienced most of Featheryy1221 had except I didn't have any pain except maybe my bottom molars for a day or two. I like to think that my upper jaw is expanding somewhat but I am not really s...

Re: My journey (expander, then braces)

Guess what guys! I'm FINALLY done with the first stage!! :-* Today they tied up the expander, so no more turns are needed! Now it's just a waiting game for getting my bone to grow in. Hopefully it just takes the four months, because I'm SO ready to get my braces on! I'm already starting to...

Re: So I finally got my expander put in...

Does an expander ALWAYS give you a gap in your 2 front teeth? No. I have my expander, and I never got the gap. Some people say that if you don't get one, "it's not working properly," but that is not true in all cases. Mine worked properly and I saw someone else that didn't get the gap either and he...

Re: So I finally got my expander put in...

Really the only advise that I can give is that it gets better as time goes on. I've had mine in for two months now and it's a lot easier for me now. Sure, I still sound stupid and, yes, cutting food up into tiny pieces is a pain, but the result from an expander is SO worth it. There are good days an...
