Re: Just got my palatal expander
The rainbow passage does help a bit with talking. But you will probably not be able to say, "you," "like," "week," "speak," "thanks," "key," "wheat," "cheese," any long e sounding words, until you get the expander off. It's been five months that I've had my expander and I still can't say those words...

I agree with the others. Orthodontists aren't always correct in their predicted time. You'll see on here that some people were told 1.5 years and they're still with them on 3 years later. This isn't always the case though, sometimes people get their braces off sooner, and usually it's about the time...

Re: My journey (expander, then braces)
Today I had an appointment with my ortho to just do a check on the expander. When I walked in and sat down, the assistant didn't seem to know what I was there for. She actually went up to the other assistants and was like, "I don't know what she's here for right now. It's already tied up." Then the ...

Re: Braces, or expander w/invisalign to fix adult crossbite?
I find it interesting that they're suggesting using a palatal expander just to flare teeth out. I have a palatal expander in currently to fix my crossbite but it was used to actually expand my palate. That way my teeth move to where they should have been. I know from my consultations that one orthod...

Re: Any regrets? Newbie not so sure about this...
I agree with what everyone else has said, it gets easier. I haven't gotten my braces on yet, but I do have an expander and there was times in the beginning where I was like, "why did I choose this?!" I just reminded myself the reasons why I chose to go on this journey. And I focus on the end result....

Re: Extraction & Braces for Adult
My sister had her four pre-molars extracted when she was 13 and her smile turned out great. Her teeth and my teeth are a little large for our tiny mouths, so in her case the extractions worked out very well. I was told by two orthos I'd need extractions (one said four premolars, the other said a low...

Yes. I remember this post as well. The story was exactly the same.hukillmommy wrote:I remember that thread specifically because the original poster commented on what I had posted. She said she felt judged by everyone and was going to delete her profile. All that was left was our responses to the OP!

Re: Keira Knightley on her crooked teeth
I think some people just aren't bothered by having crooked teeth. My dad's in his late 50's and his teeth are crooked and he's never once thought about getting braces. It's his mouth and his decision. I'm sure some people judge him and think, "oh why didn't he get braces?" but you know what, he neve...

How did the expansion manifested then if not with the front gap? Um well, if you click this and scroll near the bottom of this page (it's my braces story), you'll see pictures of my teeth after like 13ish turns of the expander (about 3.25 mm of expansion), and when I was done turning (15 mm expansi...

No I didn't get the gap, and the expander still worked.dunno12 wrote: Did your front teeth separated and a gap was created?

Re: Palatal Expander Stops Turning
Did you tell your orthodontist that you didn't complete all the turns? They know before you get the expander placed how much expansion you need. They should have measured the expansion at your appointment to check and see where you were at. They use a tiny ruler to check and see how many mm's your m...

Hן Featheryy1221, I hope you can answer my question - I understand from your signature that you're wearing a palate expander. First of all, how old are you :)? Are you using the one with the screw that you need to cork every day? How's it going so far - any expansion till now? Did you have surgery ...

Can't say I made my mind up yet since i'm very indicisive and anxious about things like that, that's why I want other peoples' opinions. I'm not sure how those rings called in English since it's not my mother language. I hope I'd be able to clarify this subject in the upcoming days. I'm indecisive ...
