Re: Back in Braces again after removal and jaw surgery

Congratulations! Best wishes for continued progress. Thank you! Can you believe I had another bracket come loose last week, next to a tooth that started to lift way too high up? My orthodontist is glad it happened because otherwise, that tooth would have moved more (he repositioned the bracket on t...

Re: Back in Braces again after removal and jaw surgery

Just got back from the ortho and had 3 molar bands installed and was put in a thicker wire, since my teeth had already moved that much in 16 days! Unbelievable, since my next appointment is not until mid-January. Maybe this means my treatment will be shorter than the 12-18 months. Here's hoping: I a...

Re: Back in Braces again after removal and jaw surgery

So sorry to hear this news, and am wishing you the best of luck. It sounds like your ortho has a good plan with an excellent chance of success; that is indeed good news. But, after all you have been through, I can certainly understand your pain and frustration. I'd probably be drinking gin right ou...

Re: Back in Braces again after removal and jaw surgery

Oh my gosh! My "old" archwired friend! Sherry, I am soooooo sorry to hear that you have to have the braces put back on. I know that must be disappointing and after everything you've been through and the great result you had, it's got to be so frustrating having to go through it again and not knowin...

Re: Estimated time for braces

I was given 12-18 months. The first time I had braces installed in 2012, I was told 12-15 months but it ended up being 21 months: 24 months if you count the fact I had to have partial braces reinstalled on the molars to correct a relapse. So If history has shown me something, I'm anticipating that i...

I deal with the public a lot, too (lawyer) and I have color bands.' No one notices or cares. Go for it.

Re: Back in Braces again after removal and jaw surgery

Wow! Your teeth really have been through quite the wringer! I don't know if I would have the patience to do a second round. However, I hope this round works out for you. And like you said, you won't know until you try. Oh yes they have. I wish I could pull them out and just try again, but alas whil...

Re: Back in Braces again after removal and jaw surgery

Hey samoorelaw, that sucks. I'm sure you must be so frustrated. I hope it goes well with re-bracing today, and I hope the third time really is the charm. I'm in a similar situation -- my bottom teeth have gotten a bit crooked, despite (or maybe because of) a permanent retainer. Although I'm not sur...

Re: Just curious about everyone's treatment cost

$6,895 for the first round of braces including retainers and a year's worth of retention visits. Second time around, I'm being charged a retreatment cost of $3,880 for approximately 12-18 months, plus retainers and a year of retention visits.

Re: Sorry, Should have said February 2014 surgery buddies

I'm going to get braces installed again tomorrow: ortho thinks the bite can be fixed without the crowns and didn't seem too thrilled with the crown idea. This is my last chance to see if this can be fixed. I've been reading a lot about positioners helping to retain bites so I'm going to insist on on...

Re: Estimated time for braces

Monday will start my second full round of braces (third technically if I count the partial braces installation I had removed last December). While my ortho said that he thinks he could fix my bite in 4 months, I was still given an estimated treatment time of 12-18 months, which is longer than my ini...

Re: Open bite after jaw surgery

This happened to me as well after upper jaw surgery, only I now have a posterior open bite on both sides. Had braces removed over a year ago and am getting braces again on Monday. I am terrified that my bite won't remain this time. Could a Positioner after treatment help retain the bite? I'm despera...
