Re: Finally doing this (I hope)

Don't chicken out. I got mine in March at 47! After just three months, I already know it was the absolute best investment I ever made in myself. Now I'm kicking myself for not doing it so much sooner.

Re: Braces before wedding

Talk with your ortho about options. I scrambled to get mine on in March knowing that my wedding is July of 2014. It will be really tight but I may have them off. If not, she said there are lots of options and actually showed me pictures of other bride patients. If you have ceramics, they can take yo...

Re: Not the brightest idea- New braces+ camping 2 days later

You will be just fine. Don't put your life on hold. I was even able to eat pizza with a fork 2 days in. You just figure it out. I highly recommend the GUM brand of braces wax. Forget the free stuff from the ortho. It's so not as good. GUM has one with aloe in it and a mind spearmint flavor. It's AWE...

Re: ARGGGGGGH, ULCERS EVERYWHERE!

First of all, call your ortho's office. They definitely can snip your wires a little closer. That happened to me and I was really suffering. Went in and 5 minutes later --- RELIEF. Also, I love the GUM brand of braces wax. They have a version that has aloe in it. It sticks really well and the aloe h...

Re: Plaque In One Month?

Thank you so much for the post about Crest Pro Health. I've noticed the statining in between bottom teeth and didn't connect the two. Will stop using it TODAY!

Re: buildups and bite ?

Are you talking about cushions so that you don't crack your top teeth by hitting the ceramic brackets on the bottom? If so, I have those. And, yes, they really disrupted my bite and it took me a good month to get used to them. I still find that all of a sudden I realize I've been biting on them (alm...

Re: Not seeing any change

I'm 11 weeks into treatment and 5 weeks post front lower tooth extraction and I am seeing huge changes. Keep in mind that my lower arch was so crowded and one of my canines was sticking way out there as a snaggletooth due to the crowding. My ortho rigged up something like a powerchain but not an act...

Forgot to mention ..... I've found the blue mouthwashes to leave discoloration but not the purple.

Re: Daily cleaning routine, what is your order?

In the morning and after lunch I'm a brush, mouthwash and interproximal brush person and I use the GUM picks during the day and swish with water if I have a quick snack. I love those GUM rubber picks, especially when I'm traveling for work and can't always brush in an airport as quickly as I like. A...

Re: Lower incisor extraction

SunshineRay - You will be just fine. I found I made myself so nervous over things that are really a lot easier than I expected. It's not all sunshine and roses for sure but it's never as bad as your imagination thinks it will be.

Lower incisor extraction

I'm 11 weeks into treatment and 5 weeks post extraction of a lower incisor. It is truly unbelievable the positive changes that have happened in such a short time. The extraction site is almost totally healed and the gap is almost closed in just 5 short weeks. I know how yet to share pictures here bu...

Re: Drinking tea/coffee with braces

I'm about 3 months into treatment and I was scared to death about the staining because I have to have my coffee and I LOVE blueberries. Honestly, I was worried for nothing. I just drink my coffee through a straw to be sure but when I went for adjustment yesterday the tech was shocked how "clean" my ...
