Re: How painful can invisalign get?

I'm on tray 6 out of 44 and so far any pain has been minimal. I will get a few twinges on the first couple days after I switch trays, but I really only notice it when I take out the trays to eat. The soreness I've had hasn't required me to take any pain relievers or anything like that. People have d...

Re: New to site and to Orthodontics

I have Invisalign and I love it, though I certainly agree with the others about the importance of compliance. If you expect that it will be a big issue, than traditional braces are probably a better option. To address a couple of your concerns, though, here's my experience so far: The lisp thing... ...

Re: anyone used an acceledent?

I don't have any personal experience, but I think there is a user here who is using Acceledent (search over in the braces stories section?). From what I recall of her story it was working out quite well.

Re: Starting Invisalign Again?

Hi thatchick! I did get my attachments last week. Not all of them... only the first 18  ! My front teeth won't get them until closer to the end of treatment, which is fine with me! They're not nearly as bad as I was fearing. I decided not to tell people about them just to see if I'd get funny...

Re: Toothbrushes?

I've been using an electric toothbrush for a few years and definitely feel that it's been good for my overall oral health (I was getting some gum recession due to my overly-vigorous brushing with a manual brush. I started with the cheap ones made by one of the regular toothbrush manufacturers (I thi...

Re: How many attachments before you wish you had normal brac

Replying again now that attachments have actually gone on my teeth. I will ultimately end up with them on nearly every tooth, though I found out yesterday that my front teeth will be spared until nearly the end of treatment (hurrah!). Knowing that I'd have so many attachments I was really questionin...

Re: Starting Invisalign Again?

Hi thatchick! I started my Invisalign 4 weeks ago and am currently on tray 2. According to the schedule I should have gone in this week for my attachments (lots and lots of attachments :x ), but my ortho is on vacation, so I have to wait another week for that. I'm not looking forward to it! I don't ...

Re: Anyone have 4 or more refinement stages?

I think they say about 95% of cases end up with at least one refinement stage, but three is the max I've heard of except in very rare cases. I looked it up and only three refinements are included in Invisalign Express, just like with Invisalign Full. From what I understand, the Invisalign Assist is ...

Re: How many attachments before you wish you had normal brac

I am on tray 1 and will get my attachments with tray 3. The orthodontic assistant gave up on counting the number I'll have. Yup, it's that bad. Nearly every tooth (including the incisors) will have attachments. Not happy about that, but hoping for the best! In the meantime I'm appreciating that the ...

Re: Ummm just 5 months?

I'm a little confused about the 3 aligners top and 5 aligners bottom equaling 5 months? I'm in Invisalign, not Clear Correct, but I thought they were similar in that you wear each aligner set, top and bottom, for two weeks and switch. Do they have you wear them for four weeks instead? All that aside...

I know Tom's of Maine makes one called Botanically Bright. I haven't tried it, but I have tried their fluoride-free and liked the way it worked and tasted!

Re: ClearCorrect?

I almost considered Clear Correct a few years ago... my dentist at the time started offering it. It was considerably cheaper than the Carriere + Invisalign route I'm going now, but I really wanted to be under an orthodontist's care which was the deciding factor for me.

Re: Step one is almost done!

So, I got the Carriere distalizers off... yay. But apparently I may have been a bit TOO compliant with my elastics (?). My top canines have become over-extruded and one of them has some bleeding and inflammation around it as a result. My ortho asked if I'd done anything beyond the prescribed treatme...

Re: What did you pay for your treatment?

1. Approx $6000 (includes initial treatment with Carriere distalizers and the Vivera retainers at the end) 2. Invisalign 3. 18-24 mos. (just completed 3+ mos. with Carriere distalizers, estimated 12-18 mos. in Invisalign itself) 4. Crowding, horizontal overbite, vertical overbite And to answer the o...

Re: Unofficial Poll

Hm... I'd have to put my estimate between 5 and 10 from when I started wearing them at the beginning of May. The first elastics (H6) and the current ones (XX4) seem to be more resiliant, but I was in H4s in between and those seemed to snap and break at the drop of a hat, so I ate more than my fair s...
