Does everyone here have bands on their molars?

Does everyone here have bands on their molars to stop the brackets from falling off, or is it just as normal to have one-sided afixed brackets on molars? My ortho usually does bands on molars, but due to the materials needed for my brackets, and the unavailability of bands in that metal, she put the...

Unobservant Coworkers

Okay, I just have to write this...what is wrong with my coworkers?? :? This morning I went to get the rest of my braces put on, which are TITANIUM :rawk: and shinier than any of the car wheels I passed on the way to work (I compared) - and I work in the Motor City!!! So, like, that's pretty shiny, r...

Re: Foods to avoid?

Mango is an absolute nightmare. It leaves invisible strings of weirdness that you cannot get to unwind from your brackets. Spinach/lettuce/kale. It's bad cooked, but raw in a salad, a thousand times worse!! I second this! I eat this stuff, but only at home. Greens give me a bright green grill, even...

Re: Hi! I'm new!

I don't know if this helps or not, but I cut my research short with the idea that anything any orthodontist does to my teeth will be an improvement over what I've got going right now  It helped me get past the research part & jump right into the fun 8) A month and a half into ceramics on top &...

Re: Just Got Braces, Stoked

I'm so excited for you!!! I love my braces too, almost to a bizarre degree.

I'm still waiting to get the rest of them on (this Thursday!!! :rawk: ) but what I've got so far makes me soooooooo happy. 8)

I feel and share your joy! Woo hoo! Braces (again) at last!

Re: adults with braces freak me out

My stepson and his friend came over yesterday, and we had a great time. Soon after they got there, I heard the friend say something about having had braces when he was in sixth grade. I asked him, "You had braces?" He said yes. I asked him a few questions about his, and he and my stepson expressed s...

So far so good for me on tooth pressure from allergies. What gets me is when it rains in the spring and my ears start to hurt.

For all you nut lovers...

If you're like me, your orthodontist gave you a list of foods you can't eat until your teeth are out of traction :-) I'm okay with no Snickers, no candy apples (how often does anyone eat those anyway??), no sticky candy, blah blah blah But when I saw no nuts...I was like, "Uh...killing off my tastie...

Even when you are 30, that is still young. I am 28 and I believe I still have a whole lifetime ahead of me...
Seconded! I am 42 and believe myself to be very young and have my whole lifetime ahead of me.

I assume I'll feel the same way when I'm 65 and 85.

Viva la vida! :singing:

Re: What Do You Like About Being You?

I like that trying to think of the things I like about myself makes me realize how lucky I am that I can type tirelessly, ceaselessly. I like that I finally have enough awareness of social norms that I realize I should not type 100 things I like about myself in response to this question. Just becaus...

Re: Overjet getting bigger...

I've got a bad case of the f's too!~! I tried "v" and "s", thinking they'd be the same (f, v, and s are all fricatives) but it's only my F that whistles. I have a coworker who's constantly saying "f/u", and that's all well and good for him and his titanium-free teeth, but I think if I were to say it...

Re: Beginning treatment to improve open bite.

Does an open bite mean that your teeth don't come together when you chew? If so, how do you eat? My teeth don't come together now that I have braces! :P But I'm assuming that my end state will include the "chew" function 8) In the mean time, I've become best buddies with the food processor & my new ...

My orthodontist has a thingy at the reception desk that reads your fingerprint when you arrive....or so they say! They showed me it at my consulation, but they've never had me use it. At worst, it's a little space-age looking thing with a glowy red light on it that sits on the reception de...
