Re: Same treatment- $2000 difference WWYD?

I think it's entirely possible that a fantastic general dentist could be superior to a mediocre bona fide orthodontist, although I always lean toward the credentials.

Re: New here...and having a hard time adjusting

Sunshine, that was a major reason I put mine off, sacrificing for the kids, and I regret it. I wish I could be 38 again and have 17 additional years of straightened teeth that aren't being damaged 24/7 by a bad bite and crowding. The only consolation I have is that orthodontics has advanced since th...

Re: New here...and having a hard time adjusting

You have just described my last two weeks to a t, except I have upper and lower metal. Fidgety nights, for sure. Wanted them OFF so many times! I feel as if I may have turned a corner in the last day or so, not being so AWARE of them every waking minute! :-+

Re: Would braces help a 12mm overjet - saw 3 ortho & am conf

You did it! I have many crowns and some short roots, too, but my orthodontist was undaunted! My overjet is more slight but I am slated for a TAD to adjust the bite.

My bite is the same, and I never realized I had an overbite. Now I have excessive wear on the teeth due to the overbite. Hello, ADA? Would you please train general dentists in basic orthodontics so they can recognize these things?

Re: Same treatment- $2000 difference WWYD?

I definitely agree that wisdom teeth are taken out far too routinely. And now they are saying your own wisdom teeth may be used to regrow your teeth at some point in the future. Wish I still had mine, they weren't bothering me either. I had a bad experience with total anesthesia for my wisdom teeth ...

Re: How long will I be in elastics?

I have that on one side, I don't have to wear it non stop, but I actually prefer to have the elastic on. For some strange reason it feels MORE comfortable with the elastic.

I believe I am the same, Class II Division II, although I don't really know what that means. My overbite has been described as severe. I also have crowding, although quite a bit worse. I have one rubber band and will have a TAD eventually.

Re: When did you notice an improvement?

I didn't even realize I have an overbite, but they say it is severe. I have had my braces two weeks and I think there is already an improvement in my profile that I can detect from photos taken before and now. My smile looks more natural. I have one rubber band and will eventually have a Temporary A...

Absolutely, do not wait if you can help it. Problems with your bite and alignment can cause permanent damage!!! I wish I had known this!!!!!!!
